Have just posted an earlier thread re the Netgear router, and accessing itunes. I now think it is a setting on AVG 8.5 (the paid for version)with security suite. I would love to know if anyone has any ideas on how to allow access to the itunes store or to download music from tesco. Thanks

You may have a problem getting specific advice on that, because I don't think many people here have the paid-for version of AVG.
As your friend is an existing, paying customer, they should be able to get an answer direct from AVG:

I think they may even have a "Live Help" service, but I haven't got a valid licence key to find out for sure.0 -
Sounds like port issue with itunes and your netgear router.
see here http://www.salingfamily.net/trav/osx/itunes.html
Not sure you can change itunes port settings in itunes or not - check the windows firewall settings as suggested in the article above, otherwise its the netgear router which would need tweaking.0 -
we dont want to share itunes files she wants to be able to access the itunes store and her account so that she can buy music.0

Ok.
You can have both avg firewall and windows firewall enabled but you do need to ensure neither is blocking itunes from accessing the net.
If you tried already by disabling avg firewall for a few seconds and it did not work.
So check if windows firewall is enabled or not - if it is make sure it does not block the itunes programme.
If both of these fail - you could see if you can connect a cable direct to the router and if that allows itunes to access internet. If it does then its your wireless settings on the router or perhaps the way your pc is set up to share resource.
If that fails - then its the router which is blocking itunes port.0 -

hotkee would that be the same for Tesco digital as she has bought music on that site but cant download it? Thanks
the wireless router is connected to the pc via ethernet.0 -
Possibly but without extra information its hard to tell -the windows firewall at the moment looks to be your primary reason why it may not be working.0

The paid for version which has the AVG firewall is actually awful. Its full of 'holes' and is actually less safe than using windows inbuilt firewall:idea:0
