Fedup of stalling my car...

I bought a new car about a month ago and I still can't get the hang of driving it. I have been driving for over 6 years and it's really getting me down that I keep on stalling my car and it feels like I'm a learner driver again. I've become a cr*p, nervous driver because I always fear that I'm going to stall, especially on hills, which makes me a much greater hazard on the road.
Does anybody have any useful tips on how to overcome stalling and whether stalling damages the car at all?

The best tips for stalling when in a hill is to pull the handbreak up, then when you get a green light start releasing the clutch slowly (while accelerating slightly) while you look on the front of your bonnet, when you see the bonnet moving release the hand break and continue releasing the clutch - and off you go.0

Or indeed the hand brake.
Give it more throttle. And re-learn how this car behaves......0 -

You are nervous?! I am too! This isn't the best place to ask for advice on how to drive a car!
What make and model is the vehicle? It's possible that it is simply faulty..
Was it always difficult to prevent it from stalling? The engine may be faulty, or badly tuned. There will be a base idle adjustment on the throttle body.. that may need turning up so that the tickover speed is higher. The car manufacturers specify the correct idle speed for the vehicle. Or the clutch may be badly adjusted and still biting when the pedal is fully depressed. Take it to a reputable garage and get them to inspect it.
Don't take offence, but if the motor checks out okay, perhaps you should book some remedial driving lessons with a qualified instructor using that car.
Good luck!0 -
It's not a diesel is it?
I've got a diesel car and it needs more revs than a petrol I find.
Yes what make and model is it?Karma - the consequences of ones acts."It's OK to falter otherwise how will you know what success feels like?"1 debt v 100 days £20000 -
Most car's drive differently but you'll soon get used to it. Try going to an empty car park for lots of stops and starts and parking etc. You'll soon get used to it.
It's all about confidence, don't worry about people behind you having to wait, you've already proved you can drive...
Go practice!! Good luck!!0 -
Sorry but lol learn to drive for god sake.0

Either you're not using the clutch and gas pedals properly, or there's the possibility the throttle body needs cleaning.0

My Mitsubishi has a throttle body with a butterfly valve in it. It that get's carbed up the revs become irratic and can cause the vehicle to stall.0
