Keep up the good work ladykibby don't beat yourself up every little helps :T
I've managed to pay £400 off this month, well last month actually, about £50 in percy, £240 from my wages and £110 from not paying council tax :T Well happy with that.
This month already should be £110 and about £150 from wages...not that I'm counting my piggies before they go to market :rotfl:
Wow! Well done you! That's great going, you should be really proud of yourself :-)

A mortgage pig - fab idea!!
Scarily (especially having just eaten a takeaway that we shouldn't have had!) I've just worked out that a takeaway is worth almost two days of our mortgage!!0 -
Although I've been lurking around these boards for a while and we already overpay our mortgage by £30 per month I want a mortgage pig! I'm going hunting (also known as shopping tomorrow) for one. Will let you know how I get on.

This post has given me the idea to write down, and hang above our mortgage pig, all those little things we buy - that we don't need - that are equal to a day's mortgage payment. For example, like above, a take away. Or getting up earlier to walk your kids to school instead of taking the bus, save the fare for a week. Take a packed lunch to work instead of buying sandwiches... etc.
By the way we have a mortgage mushroom as well as a pig. Google midnight mushroom to see, they're gorgeous. Ours didn't cost that much though, in true MSE style it was 30p from the car boot sale!!0 -
My hubby is useless at saving to overpay the mortgage - so I did the dirty on him - when we remortgaged recently I reduced the term by a year fortunately he hasn't noticed the payments had risen slightly...tee heeThe best things in life are free.....or at least discounted!!!0

Good job I didn't count my piggies before they went to market as I've missed 1 week & 3 days of work due to illness and then there was Feb 1/2 term as well so pants month last month on the wages front
So I'm not sure what I'll be able to put towards the morgage this month now apart from the £110 council tax payment. Ah well keep pigging away I suppose :rotfl:MFiT Member No 85

im getting there slowly with this money pig all though mine resembles a used biscuit tin.
overpaid 105 feb due to me having to use last months council tax to pay of the excess on the gas bill.and the total should be in excess of 250 this month due to no excessive bills dropping on the mat.(apart from next years massive Council tax bill).
i have achieved one thing though that i have never done before i have managed to pay my house insurance off in one payment this month instead of the usual 12 months of payments whoooooooopppppppeeeeee

yes it's the first year we've done this too...to be honest we'd never really thought about it before, just paid in installments for the "convenience" This year i actually looked at how much interest we would be charged for the privilege! (plus got better quotes, plus got Quidco cashback!) It's put a bigger dent in the joint account but hopefully it will recover soonweaving through the chaos...0 -
What a fantastic idea. I couldn't find a pig I liked therefore I got a cow. We have officially named her MooBella. She is well fed. I literally emptied my purse on Monday. Money I would ordinarily waste on magazines and chocolate, both of which I don't need. The best idea ever, even my Fiance thought it was a fun and thoughtful thing to do. She has pride of place on my kitchen worktop so everyone is capable of feeding her! Thanks for the wicked idea.Mummy to my gorgeous little Jack :j0
