Tesco Internet Saver - 500 exta reward points and 2.5% Interest

The Tesco 'internet saver' account is a fairly competative instant access saving account, offering 2.5% interest (Inc 1% 12 months) bonus. The great news is if you open an account before 1st July 2009 you will get 500 Tesco reward points!!!!
The account only has a small minimum investment of £1 to open and there are are no other lockin fees or clauses. The 500 points can be converted in to £40 worth of vouchers in Tesco's usal club card deals promotion or is worth £10 spent in store.
Certainly worth a punt in today's saving climate if you have a Tesco Club card

better accounts out there with lesser hassle.0 -
people do not forget the fiasco for setting up this atrocious account. the tardy setup process, the hassles to set up debits, transfers from the account. hidden/ rather not mentioned card reader con. average of 2-3 months to setup. a joke of a process.
better accounts out there with lesser hassle.

For 500 points I must admit I am tempted despite some of the stories about poor experiences posted here.0

For me it wasn't remotely painful, just very very slow. As long as you're not bothered that you might not be able to withdraw for a few months I don't think it's much of a big deal.0 -
ok ,, no-one is making you apply for one ...
I think Cocktail was just making sure people are not simply tempted in by the Tesco points, but appreciate the problems and delays experienced by those who applied when this scheme was launched tail end of last year.
There are posts galore elsewhere on this site about the horror stories, with some people needing access to their funds from this 'instant access' account, but unable to do so due to lack of card reader or getting 'locked out' of their internet site.
ps - Personally the set-up delay did not worry me, and I now love the Faster Payments Tesco supports.0 -

Where did you see the points offer? It's not displayed on the Tesco savings page.
I received info about it in my clubcard statement. Not seen it mentioned anywhere else but inputting your clubcard number is part of the application process. If the points don't turn up I'll query it with Tesco.0 -

Where is this info printed? My statement arrived yesterday and I can see nothing regarding this.0 -

It was formatted as one of the vouchers. I've not spent a great deal recently at Tesco beyond petrol though and so it seems they are giving more general vouchers rather than the quite relevant to what I was buying ones when I was doing my food shopping at Tesco. Perhaps if they have a recent profile of your shopping they've given you the more relevant vouchers and not this one. There is no code or anthing on the voucher but I can't say whether they'll limit it to those that have been sent it based upon the clubcard number you enter when you apply.0 -
