Good morning all you MSE's!

I have a quick question for you all, treat it as hypothetical but it has grounding in reality!

I am currently on an 18 month contract, it will be 12 months through in July (so 8 months roughly left - although they say its not up until May 2010!?). Anyway I want out of this due to poor signal where I live and where I work, and they have quoted me £199.99 to cancel early.

What I was wondering is can I downgrade my current contract (to say their lowest Solo deal or even lowest Flext) thus starting a new "contract"? If I do this with the Solo deal it is only a 30 day contract so after 1 month I could give my notice of cancellation and get out of my contract. Or will they charge me for downgrading it?

Any info or advice gratefully received.

Thanks Leah

thye wouldnt allow you to dongrade it to that(as your on a contract and those are sim only deals ) although you could downgrade it to their lowest tariff which i believe is £15 pounds a month but you would still have to pay 12 X£15 to cancel your contract which would be 175 pounds so you cant do any better than that dont you think if thye allowed you to swap a n 18 month contract to a monthly rolling one veryone one would be doing it

Also the computer won't let them switch you to a tariff you shouldn't be on. Nice thought though. . .

Thanks guys, so are you basically saying that as I am on Combi30 (plus free web and walk) contract and 12 months into it, I can change to say Combi 15, the remaining months (6) would stay the same and I could get out of it for 6 x £15 (or even just let it run down at the lower rate)?

    Hi Leah
You can't move to a plan lower than the one you started on, until the final month of your contract.
Even if you were able to change, the early cancellation fee is (should - depends on the agent following the correct process!) calculated on the plan you started on. Sorry to have to give the bad news...
