Just been trying to catch up -

    congrats on the job Glam:beer:

Glad the exam went well tia:D

Glad you had a nice birthday Mrs Moc :j

My OH is trying to redeem himself i think - he has been a complete angel and has done all the housework and looked after 5 cats and a tort since monday and braught me loads of food and drink whilst i am stuck in bed:D

He has also decided to rent a fetal doppler for me from ebay (BT200 model) i have warned him it is a bit early but we will have a go. I will report back on how it and the service of company we are renting it off works out.

I suppose he is working on the principal that if the ultrasound can pick up the picture on a screen the ultrasound doppler will pick up the flickering heart beat - i am a bit sceptical myself but we will see and it will give me something to playwith whilst i am stuck in bed.

    *sniffles*

I just got an email from some friends of mine - they want to throw me a baby shower! and want to know what days I'm definitely tied to work!

That's so lovely of them, I'm really touched and all teary!

Other than that, my beloved came home with ingredients for dinner and then stepped back out to buy some sort of electronic thing. I ate a piece of toast and was still starving so have now inhaled half a packet of biscuits.

I'm going to be in trouble if I can't eat my dinner :(

MM, I had an elective c section with number 1 and felt cheated, then a vbac with no 2 which was horrid, and I wondered why I'd been disappointed!

It is, as others have said, a personal decision, but you've already experienced the whole spontaneous labour thing, and the dealing with contractions. The only thing you haven't experienced is pushing a large fairly solid object through a softer hole which is slightly smaller than the solid object! There isn't any guarantee even if you decided to go for a trial of labour that you wouldn't end up having another c-section anyway, perhaps in less optimal conditions than an elective.

For me, if I can, I will probably opt for another elective c section this time as they are far less traumatic, and also give you the opportunity to prearrange your childcare for the other child well in advance!

Whatever, you choose, do it for the right reasons, and not because some of your friends have made sarky comments to you in the past. In fact, if its not too late, I'd suggest you don't tell any of your friends IRL that you've been offered a choice, unless and until you decide to have a trial of labout, so that you make your decision for the reasons which are right for you.

Oh MM how confussing i was told straight the way at my booking apt that i will be having another section i think i would cry if they said i couldn't have one as i just can't go through the awful time i had with my ds. All along with him they said i was prob going to have a CS but never booked me in for one and made me try naturally fair enough as it was my first and at least i tried. But after one mistake after another by the medical team we came so close to losing him i couldn't bare to try a natural one again.

I didn't get a voucher in my emmas diary that i got the other week!

Ooh i would love to go to a baby shower, i could take one of my nappy cakes as a gift. I will have to make one for myself lol how sad lol

Not pregnancy related - but related to showing your bits I suppose!

I just took my kids to the local adventure playground for the first time, as there is a possibility that my DD may get some supported playtime there during the summer holidays to give me a break, as she has severe learning difficulties. They had a sandpit with a hose which the children had used to make a lake, which she promptly sat down in, soaking her pants and skirt, which she then stripped off as she can't bear wet clothing next to her skin. I didn't have a change of clothes for her, but managed to borrow a pair of boys pants (for 3-4 year old) from another mum (DD is a tall 8) and then had to walk her home through a predominantly islamic area of London wearing just a pair of boys pants and a tshirt!

10 minute walk, made longer by waddling like a duck and extreme embarrassment :o:o:o

So, hypothetically, if one had a cervix that was 5cm thick, and then two weeks later it was 4cm thick, would be reasonable to assume that cervix thinning would continue at a regular rate?

How thin does it get before it starts dilating?

Nicki, thanks for that, and no I have no intention of telling anyone that I have been given the option unless I change my mind. Have told my mum and MIL that I have been booked in for 18th but nothing else, only me and OH know. Will talk to him tonight more when Jasmine goes to bed.

Hi JHA, glad your OH is looking after you! It's nice to be waited on now and then, isn't it? Just to say I don't think it necessarily follows that you will find a doppler heartbeat once you have seen it on a scan. I had a MW apt the same week as my early scan (8 weeks) and she couldn't find a heartbeat with her doppler (which she said was totally normal) but the sonographer found it straight away on the scan (external scan). I first heard the HB on a doppler at 13 week apt, which I think is pretty standard, so I guess not that far off for you.

Cooking is going great guns- just waiting for things to simmer now.
