Also be aware if you are planning on sharing yours to her via an Ethernet cable or WiFi between the houses, you'll more than likely be breaching the T+Cs of your broadband, which in most cases specifically prohibit sharing connections with other houses, so if they found out, you'd be cut off...

Cheapest mobile broadband is about a tenna a month: http://www.top10-broadband.co.uk/mobile_broadband/

The OP's trying to help someone out, the age factor shouldnt come into it,

Like it or not, in this world we live in, the age factor does come into it when someone on the internet wants to help a 15yo girl. The OP might be a good Samaritan or a 60yo groomer... You should always ask questions........
What if the Hokey Pokey really is what it's all about !!!

You don't say your age Jak. If very much older than the girl, questionmarks.

    Outrageous.

How many people here mention their age when seeking help?

Hi Jak...there is too much information in your original post.
Why mention the girl, or mother who may owe the ISP and the father is going bankrupt. Could it be you want re-assurance that you are doing the right thing.
The last paragraph is all that was needed.
But seeing as you have mentioned it and also your age, my advice is still no.
The ISP debt was almost certainly made by the daughter and now that source has dried up, and Dad can't (or won't) help, she gone to you.

...or going down the iPhone SIM method - which involves getting an O2 Dongle, then putting an iPhone SIM in it. This should be cheaper, but i'm not quite sure of how long it works for or any data limits.

I bought one of the 3dongle4free dongles for £5, and unlocked it for £13 using DC-unlocker. I'm currently using it with my Virgin Mobile SIM card (30p per day for up to 25MB) but I've ordered an O2 iPhone SIM card from ebay (£11 including the £10 top-up) to give it a try... supposedly this gives you internet access for a year, as long as you don't use it excessively (I can't find any details of how this is defined). However, as it's a PAYG SIM card the worst they can do is cut off the connection, so as if it lasts a few months I'll be happy.

I put the information in there so I wouldn't get the "Tiscali do ADSL for £14 pm" as A. I'm too young to buy it and B. it's too much full stop.

She hasn't come to me at all - in fact this is actually a surprise for her...

The ISP debt is from her Mum simply not paying the pills, not the daughters fault at all, but with no job theres nothing she could do to clear the debt.
Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.

Do you have any more stories to tell us, or do you want to wander back underneath your bridge, oh little troll?

Jakg looks to be genuine to me, and an excellent student of Moneysaving among other things - if only everyone your age were making use of Forum help like you.

But I also agree with ken68 - too much info is making it all sound a bit dramatic and maybe distracting some people from the point.

There's a serious, more general point behind this - how do peeps in difficult financial situations get internet access. In Europe they are now debating that access is a Human Right (just when France is trying to cut suspected über-downloaders off without so much as a court hearing).

It has crossed my mind - how would I ensure that, say a 13 yo nephew of mine gets Internet in similar circumstances, not just cos bills aren't being paid, also cos no-one in his immediate family knows how to keep a wireless router working properly.
