hi guys. i applied for an alliance and leciester direct current account this weekend expecting to be refused.....but they accepted me!!!!
i know it comes with an 0% overdraft for 12 months but just wondered what sort of overdraft they would give me.....has anyone else opened one? and what od did you get?

Ooh, nice one! That gives me some food for thought. We wanted to pay off the Nationwide loan with 0% card but were not sure if we could get one with a high enough limit. However, if the limit is not enough, we could use a 0% overdraft for the rest (either just one of us, or if we both get an account). 12 months is better than any of the 0% card offers as well.
Well done and I hope you get the limit you need!"I've fallen down a hole" - said in best Monty Python voice-over.0 -
I didn't get an overdraft with my A&L account (told them I didn't want one) but I am sure I remember reading in the gumph that they'll match any existing overdraft if you supply proof of the limit

Hi JamieDodger,
Did you get a referral through referrals board too? Some people were offering £45 back so you would be up £95!
scottishspendaholic xMBNA = £4,000 / Next = £925 (approx. tbc on 19/8)
Tesco = £2,910.11 / Smile overdraft = £500
Bank of Scotland = £2,782.830 -

Chortle, do you know if you have to actually be using the overdraft to get it matched? Just thinking that OH could probably get a decent overdraft with his current bank (RBS) and see if they will match that? I wouldn't want us to actually be using it as if he got refused for either an account or the overdraft it could leave us worse off."I've fallen down a hole" - said in best Monty Python voice-over.0

Jamie, there are people there who are offering to refer you, so you get £50. They are then offering to send you £45 of their £50 referral money, so they get to keep £5 and you get £95!!! I have pm'ed one of the offers but not had a reply as yet. Heres hoping!
Though I remembered last night whilst in bed, that my mum has an A+L account so may get her to do it. She'll then get £50. Nothing like keeping it in the family!"I've fallen down a hole" - said in best Monty Python voice-over.0 -
Hi Jamie,
All the info re. extra £45 is in this thread:- http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=62624&page=61&pp=10

If you guys don't get any response from the people on the referers board, I'll happily refer you and send on the £45

Alleycat, I would have thought that matching an OD limit means just that, even if it isn't being used at the moment - I'll have a squiz through the half-tonne of paperwork they sent me and see what I can find
