Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 16th May. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread afterthey get up in the morning.

Morning, Quite windy out there today. Does not look too warm either. Up early and it will only get worse as the days get lighter. It was light this morning at 5am, so maybe I need some of those blackout blinds.

Had a good evening out at freinds last night, polished off some wine and good food. Not sure what to do today. We are out again tonight, so all go.

Got to clean the Hen house out this morning, take daughter to work and decide what to do. Car is still in mechanics, seems there was some problem or other. Thankfully I have my mums car for now... The whole car thing has cost me a fortune.....

Well, have a nice day everyone

Morning N9eav and all who follow.

Bright and sunny here this morning - if it lasts!

We had a major thunderstorm last night and the rain was really beating down, with a bit of luck this might have cleared the air a bit.

Went to B&Q last night and bought a much needed new mower (10% off this weekend) so if it stays dry OH will be trying it out today:D

Wm on in the hope I can get some out on line, sc and bm on already too.

    Have a good saturday everyone

Quite bright here at the moment though still very wet from all the rain last night. Veggies look really good though - it certainly has given them a boost.

Washing and ironing planned, sorting some stuff for ebay and hopefully baking.

DD has friend over & they are going to our local independant cinema later - £2 a ticket so v mse.

Morning to all above and all to follow.

Weather isn't looking too hot here but hoping it will clear later.

N9eav - Am with you on blackoutblinds. My kids have been up since 5.30am.
nic1lou2 - I love thunderstoms, very rarely get them here.
kjsam - Hope your day goes quicker.
Essex-Girl - Mine always perk up with rain. Just look drowned when I water them

ex-girl Well today is a nice quiet day as stayed over at OH with ds1 & ds 2 and his ds1 also stayed over. May make something nice for breakkie. I have tattie scones and eggs but no doubt everyone will want something that isn't in and I am not spending a fortune on rubbish!!

Have a good day and here is hoping the sun comes out to play x
Although I get lonely  as a single mother there are always two smiling angels ready to give me the biggest hug in the world. Love you babies :grouphug:

    Morning all,
Brain alarm went off at 5am again, wish I could remove batteries.
Plans today, clear paperwork, weed the garden and do baking for the freezer.

I have lots of F&V to use up so I'll make a mango cheesecake and a summer pud. Veg wise I'll do an asparagus & 3 cheese quiche, Leek & Cauli bake, and a spicy carrot and tomato soup. BM nearly done and WM finished. Looks nice and sunny atm so may get it line dried.

DD2 is much better and said she'll pop over for the day with DGD2, more cuddles.
Thanks for all your kind comments about what I do for DD's but I'm sure you'd all do the same. We all do as much as poss for our kids eh.

Hope it's a happy w/end for all. Off to catch up on y/days thread.

Sorry I didn't make it back yesterday.

Belated Congratulations to :T:beer::jMr & Mrs H-J:j:beer::T hope you had a lovely evening and meal, and you celebrated in the appropriate manner;). I am sure that like me everyone says your DH needs a medal for putting up with you, but the reverse is really true :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.

Aussie - hope you have better news of DH. ((hugs)) Any news of your necklace?

For someone thinking about the Paul McKenna way of losing weight, this may interest you.

It poured all day yesterday until around early evening, even causes a roof to collapse on some shops . Hoping to have some dry spells today to get DS's washing dry:rolleyes:.

Made a fish pie for DS & me and a Cottage pie for DH(not a fish fan) last night both went down very well, Two portions of fish pie and one cottage pie ready for the freezer too:T. Got 3 lots of stock and 2 large lots of chicken soup from the carcasses, all in freezer.

Hope your cold/flu is easying redruby.
M yes crickets do make a row, you must be warmer than we are if they are out! We had on who sneaked into the caravan awning once, and had a 4am seach on as no way we could sleep through the racket. Hope you enjoyed your DH free day;).

    Good morning all,

Rain here too and it looks set for the day so the washing will be on clothes maidens on the landing. It's DS1's birthday this morning so we've had the round of cards & presents and another birthday cake after tea this evening ;)

Tru Sorry about Pink chick hope you find out what the problem was.

Aussie What a shame about your necklace. Last year my Mum lost a silver cross & chain that my Dad had bought her when she was 15 (she's 68 now) It's horrible losing something of such sentimental value.

Redruby :T to your OH let us know how the bidding ends on Sunday! Hope you feel better soon.

Taplady - the car problems sounds expensive:eek::eek:

    :grouphug: Bethebee - DB2 :grouphug:

    NPM -
Think you need serious words with the school, if I am not mistaken additional NTA's are given for the special needs of children and not as general assistants. You may need to get him re-assessed if inclusion is not giving him what he needs.:grouphug:

Essexgirl: PM me re cross-stitch if you need help. (Not for cooking though:o)

Peyton, welcome back, glad your move went well.

Tru - sorry to hear about chick Pink - was it Harry who was picking on him:D

Elona - how did the viewing go - fingers crossed. We were to be in your neck of the woods this weekend, but DS's visit changed that.

JackieO Sorry to read about the loss of your friends son. :grouphug:

    Pen-Pin :grouphug:

WS - I can remember when our DS was small and a very rainy caravan holiday, he played out in shorts and wellies and there was no way of getting trousers dry, he didn't hurt and didn't want to be inside. As for the sacks, put them all in one and cope until you have used the third:o. I think you are coming to that time with LB where you forget housework and knitting and just play with him during the day and do the chores when DH comes home at night, or get him to do some, we all have it with lively kids. I worked and apart from getting tea while DH played with him, the evening was his until he went to bed, then we started on the housework.

Boy think I have beat M's record, better go and have a coffee.
    Have a great weekend. DG

    Hi everyone.

Late anniversary wishes to Mr and Mrs Haribo.

RedRuby - hope you are feeling better soon.

Weather wet and cool here in 'sunny' France at the moment. Forecast is for a few more days of the same but, apparently, temps of up to 26C by the end of next week. DH is grumbling about how fast the grass grows here - at least twice as fast as in the UK - so he says.

Dinner tonight is chicken (in the Remoska) with new pots and salad.

As it's raining it means DH will have to get on with things in the house instead of strimming; I think we're finally putting up a blind in the bathroom (as opposed to hanging a bit of fabric up, which keeps falling down). I also need to do some food shopping. Tomorrow, we are going to a vide grenier (a kind of car boot sale) - if it's not raining.

Anyway, must go and get ready to hit the supermarket.

Hope you all have a great weekend.

No, it was Penny  :D

I visited the chook lady (actually I visited 2, just to be sure) and they both say we've done nothing wrong, it's just one of those things. Still feel guilty though. They also said not to indroduce any more girls til they're laying (around mid-september) so I'll have to wait for Pink 2.

What do think when you hear the word blacksmith? Or stonemason? I imagine men in their fifties and sixties (dunno why, I just do) trying to keep an old art alive. Well, yesterday we found some younger women running their own businesses, carving stone and shaping metal, have a look HERE. Very impressive. I'd make a better Kirstie Allsop than Kirstie Allsop :D

The garden needs a bit of attention. The sun is out at the mo, perfect for weeding especially as the ground is so wet. The greenhouses are growing triffid toms and cucs :D I'll get the rabbit and piggies out in a bit, they can cut the grass for me :rotfl:

Hope you all have a lovely day & <hugs> to those not well. Byeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

Aussie I hope you have had good news of your dh by now.

We're just off to drop dh on the beach for sailing. It's a very early start today, then we'll come back to tidy the house (me) and mess it up again (ds).

    Take care everyone
