Plants for a shady border?

Can anyone suggest some plants which would do well in a shady border please? We've just moved house and have a patch of border along the side of the house which doesn't seem to get much if any sun. Is there anything we could plant there? thanks :)

thanks for all the replies

the border is against a wall between our house and next door so not able to do anything about that

I'll look into the plants you mentioned and do aother check to see what light/sun the border does get to make sure that the plants will work down there
