  • hi the onlly time we have used cleaners (10 moves ) we failed the march out because the cleaners hadn't cleaned to the correct standerd. we got them straight back in and watched them until it was done. this was 6 years ago but we did come from the norfolk area was be aware that they are not alwas as good as doing it your self and they changed far more than they should have. good luck
  • We thoroughly cleaned our house for march out, the same lady came for the final appointment as the pre-march out (she'd said it all looked lovely, and that was before the cleaning). OH attended, she didn't look in any cupboards or the garden, and it was all over in under 10 minutes - perhaps they can just sense when a house has been looked after and cleaned, or maybe we were very lucky? Some of the stories I've heard of them being picky are horrendous!

I have just received the flyer telling of the MHS/DE contract cleaning scheme. Each house will be quoted after inspection but I can't help but be dubious when MHS are concerned!

me too! However MHS now offer £50 compensation if a house is not up to standard upon march in and requires either a partial or full clean. So they will be shooting themselves in the foot if they mess up.

I was at a meeting the other day when this £50 was brought up. A family had marched in and the kitchen wasn't usable. Sink was completely u/s and cooker filthy - this was in June and they're still awaiting their £50!! Typical MHS!!!!

If you do use a cleaning firm make sure they guarantee the clean - any problems and DHE call them back in and it doesn't come back on you.

If you don't make sure it's done thoroughly - I know a couple that have not passed recently - in our experience standards are higher than they used to be and our last march out took longer than any we'd had before. The rumours about them using baby wipes are true - behind radiators, inside open window frames, under sinks, and on the cooker - inside and out - any dirty marks and it's a fail!

    Good Luck!
  • we were based in catterick garrison, north yorkshire and used a fab cleaning company called "done and dusted" for our march out - we used them regularly anyway as both my wife and i were working , no complaints and a high standard clean - would recommend all day long ! took the worry away as my wife left the property a week before handover with us moving down south
