watch out for the scams involved with mhs and dhe recommending cleaners - they are usually their brother or wifes friend and do such a sub standard job you will get billed again

this is a link to Arrse where this was discussed it makes for interesting reading ..... http://www.arrse.co.uk/Forums/viewtopic/t=39238.html

    good luck

not come across that one before!! I will say that a housing officer and MHS will act differently if a known cleaner has carried out a property clean as a) they know what their workmanship is like and can trust it and b) if they have missed something they will come back and put it right.

My advice is to find a cleaner who will guarentee a march out pass and one who will attend at march out.
Praying at the church of MSE should be compulsory!

There are three types of people in the world, those who can add up and those who can't.

We paid for cleaners for our mq when we moved out, i would never have it any other way. It was guaranteed to march out standard and the cleaners attended the march out with us to make sure everything was up to standard.

You may be able to put a price on your cleaning products and snacks. You can't put a price on retaining your sanity at an already stressful time lol.

At Marham we used a guy called Tony - HIVE will have details. He cost £110 for 3 bed and that included carpets and cooker - bargain!! He guarantees a pass too!

There is now a pre payment cleaning scheme up and running.

    http://www.modernhousingsolutions.com/moving/moving_pre.asp

It is fully endorsed by DHE and each area has a dedicated company contracted to do the job.

Seems like this will now be the only way to get a GUARANTEED marchout at monopolised prices!!!

No disrespect but are you involved with this company. Just if you are then this is advertising and i don't think its allowed on the boards. If not then I apologise in advance (am a newbie myself and am not sure).
  • Hi, no im not involved with the company other than the fact that i used them when moving quarter. but thanks for your concern
  • Having always done my own cleaning for March out for 23 years never been billed for anything I just don't get what all the fuss is about surely if you clean it on arrival (cos they are always dirty) look after it as if it is your own, line the oven with foil and clean it weekly. Keep on top of it, shoes off at the door and dogs wipe their feet after being outside. It takes me about 6 hrs to clean the bits covered by furniture after the movers have gone and shampoo the carpets while he mows the lawn and sweeps the garage. I had the mick taken at Kinloss as they called me mrs mop and rumours had it I had a toothbrush for the taps (well ok I do ) but I also had at least 700 of our allowence left each time after school uniforms and freezer filling and we had a holiday on it to recover from the move. We have done 4 moves in 4 years = 2800... I would never pay anyone after all you have 90 days to sort yourself out.

i have moved 3 times in the last 4 years 2 moves i cleaned myself, the most recent i got army cleaners in which was a living nightmare i paid over 300 euros for everything to be cleaned and it failed which delayed us leaving germany on time,i also got billed for a full re dec because the company had scrubbed the walls and the paint had come away,as long as you keep on top of your cleaning as said above you can clean it yourself the main thing that will fail if not perfect is the oven, took me about 4 hours with my hubby to do our 3 bed house a little stressful with 2 kids but you save yourself 300 quid i think its worth it,i dont think we will be getting the cleaners in again after my most recent experience ended up costing over 600 pounds
