Carl lewis stepper £19.99

Thought I'd bump this back up as they've still got them available on the comet site.
Mine came today and it's really good value. Even I could put it together pretty quickly too (it's basically just the handle you have to attach to the stepper.) Would have been even quicker if my 1 yr old hadnt decided to post her dummy down the cylinder so I had to undo all the bolts and start again!
Anyway just did a 20 min stint and it seems a great way for an unfit bod like me to get back into fitness...great while watching telly, compact enough to keep out in the lounge without looking daft, and very accessible!0 -
Know this is an old post, but we've used this stepper probably five times and its still very stiff and doesn't seem to get any easier. Any ideas how to loosen it up?0

hi
Does anyone know max weight it takes please?
thanks0 -
They currently have a Carl Lewis stepper (not sure if it's the same as this) for about £16 in the sale at my local Sainsbury's. There's a Carl Lewis elliptical trainer for about £90 too.0

Sounds like a good buy?0

I want an elliptical trainer. Any ideas.
Is the Carl Lewis one mentioned above any good.ACII and Chartered so now I can focus on learning to play my beautiful Sax. 🎷0 -
I don't know to be honest - only had a quick glance at them. I assume they would be reasonable quality as they are a well-known brand. You could probably take it back easily if it was from Sainsburys.
I would look at fitness equipment retailers on the net to compare features and prices before looking on the high street - there seems to be a big variation in features, price, and build quality to me.0 -
Knowing nothing about exercise equipment, are steppers 'good'?0

There is no such things as "good" only suitable for what you want.
What is it you want to acheive?
general fitness?, toning?, weight loss?, flexibility?, stamina?
What kind of exercise are you likely to do?
It very important to choose something that you enjoy otherwise it will end up in the cupboard after 5 minutes.
I would say they have the following pros:
1) Can do it in the warm
2) Don't need to spend time/effort dressing or travelling to gym
3) Can do it whilst watching TV
4) Can stay in the house (so monitoring children for example).
Cons are as follows:
1) Lack of variety so might get boring (might not be an issue if watching TV)
2) Lack of variety in exercise moves (might not be an issue depending on what you want to acheive).
My top tip is really to find something you will enjoy.
If you love dancing then find a class to go to.
If you love walking then arrange that.
It's pointless trying to do something you won't be motivated and it will end up gathering dust.
Personally I think these machines are pretty boring but I have a cross trainer and it does have some advantages as above.
I personally only use it in foul weather when other options are a bit limited.0 -

Thanks for the above. I have just been to see a cardiologist with suspected heart problems for chest pains and I'm only 27... It was VERY scarey... Hopefully on Thursday I will get the all clear and they will leave it with the only possibility being that its down to my back and 1 thing I will need to do is improve my general fitness. I play golf, but with my job don't have a lot of time to do a lot of exercise. I was thinking of the stepper as something I could do in front of the television for a few mins in the evening.0
