Why doesn't the search tool work properly?

On many occasions when I know a certain topic has been submitted into a chat forum the search comes back saying there are no matches.

This is very frustrating (I've checked in advance search that the word is correct, etc) and does lessen the quality of the site.

Are there any plans to improve this?

A frequent problem can be that the search does not recognise capital letters.

I've found this too, don't think I was using capitals.
