You need a solvent. Nail varnish remover, sticky stuff remover, isopropyl alcohol, thinners, turps or white spirit. But wait till the redness has dies down, use it sparingly and wash off when finished.

OP, hope you got it all off ok- if you found the alcohol or nail polish remover worked for you (which is what I use when I get hair-dye stains on my forehead) make sure you rinse it off with something like moisturising cleaning milk, or even milk (either soya or cows milk) to neutralise it a bit and moisturise your skin.

If its very red the next day (think I read there was some rubbing beforehand?) try aloevera and after sun cream, both should help with the redness and any pain caused by the alcohol on top of the parts which ere scrubbed at.

So it seems that if you go over a permanent marker spot or line a second time and then hit it with a cleaner while the second application is still wet - you stand a good chance of removing all of it.

    I know! :)

Yep. It certainly works on carpets because I've done it. I can't see any reason why it shouldn't work on skin. Honest :)
