I can actually confirm that these gold cards do not work at all. As I walked in to my local mcdonalds in London and showed them the card the staff looked confused and didn’t know what it was. So he called up the manager and he also had no idea what this card was about. It was obvious that they never seen this before. The manager ask me questions such as me where did I get this from? I appeared quite nervous and didn’t know what to say. So I made up some rubbish, anything that popped into my head. I said in a stuttering voice ‘I’m a sponsor of mcdonalds’. ‘sponsor of what?? Which mcdonalds??’ he said. So I continue to make up any rubbish. There was a big queue behind me wondering what was going on as the conversation lasted for a few minutes. I thought that the only way to save my embarrassment was to pay for the meal instead, but then I thought, no way, so I walked out feeling like an idiot. These cards now seem useless to me but after reading the sellers feedback, for some reason they do seem to work for some. Now my only option is to either get a complete refund or resell it for a higher price.

What you lot should do is do a list of what mcdonalds you've been in and what was said then whether or not they accepted it.

    for example

barking - nothing was said - accepted!
archway - my mate give me it - not accepted :(

    etc etc

I managed to get hold of one of these but unlike some other people in these forums who say they see "Northgate Retail Park" if they hold it up to the light mine hasn't been scratched off and is clearly visible. I was thinking of scratching mine off but it occured to me that it was no better than doing something like paying with a cheque with the account number tipexed out (ie. fraud). I think I'll just keep mine on the off chance that I pass by Northgate sometime. :D
  • Do you know if these cards are transferable (i.e what would be the chances of getting quizzed about how the card was obtained) ?

Worth a go I suppose - Even if it is a scam the cost is only £12 - Probably about 2 or 3 of these meals in other words!

But you do question where he got 50 or so from

Do you know if these cards are transferable (i.e if they are only dished out to professional footballers etc and I tried to use one what would be the chances of getting quizzed about it) ?

I think the trick is to just order a meal and just show them the card.

Don't come up with a story about a mate or anything like that.

Just be confident and you should get away with it

I don't think people are volunteering the information mate, if thay ask you where you got it you have to tell them something!

I asmit though, people who say they got stuff "off a mate" usually means its dodgy.

If its younger MSE users using it, I would be tempted to say that my dad works for McD's or for the Football Association etc!

What will you say in the description though? "I bought this and it doesn't work" will hardly have buyers queueing up ;)
    Can I help?
