:mad:So I learnt something new on ebay today:
Dear eBay Community Member,
A previously entered bid on your item (********) has been retracted or cancelled. You can view the retraction/cancellation and the reason provided by selecting the (bid history) link from the individual item page. As a result of this retraction/cancellation, there is a possibility that the high bid amount and the current high bidder have changed. You can always view the current status of any item by going to the individual item page. (Be sure to refresh or reload the page to view the most up-to-date information.)
Regards,
eBay
I didnt know bidders could retract their bids, as in an auction I thought once you placed a bid that was it - final.
Apparently the reason was she entered the wrong amount. The listing was only at 99p, and I know this is a minimal amount but I am still mad.
Again all protection for buyers, none for sellers. Once I bid on something thats it, I know its final!!!

Hey there
I suppose though you would have more problems if you got a buyer who didnt want the item
Also the bidder is supposed to replace the bid afterwards so if you are concerned you can report it :money:Are you a Thrifty Beatnik?0 -

How do I report it because she hasn't?! Thats my point, ok genuine mistake you want to retract, but then ebay should force them to put a proper bid in. A normal auction, you bid, thats it you pay!Is a sufferer of SAD, so don't blame me, blame the depressing English weather!!!:beer:0 -
I go to a real B and M auction house and dealers often retract their bids especially if they have gone outside for a crafty cigarette and come in and bid on the wrong thing.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thank you. I had a look on 'Help' in Ebay, and you are correct. While they can retract a bid for 'incorrect amount entered' they should straight away replace this with a correct bid. Ebay see it as a binding contract when you enter a bid, but obviously there is human error, if they dont re-bid straight away you can report it (which I have done), as this is against Ebay rules and I guess will stop the bidder from being able to do this again. Is a sufferer of SAD, so don't blame me, blame the depressing English weather!!!:beer:0 -

Not really, ebay don't care about the odd retracted bid infringement. I still think it is better than having someone buy your item and then muck you around because they don't actually want it.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. True there is nothing worse than a non-payer, but still the rules are there for a reason. Is a sufferer of SAD, so don't blame me, blame the depressing English weather!!!:beer:0 -
