Be careful what you wish for I was rear ended last November and I haven't had a day without pain since.0 -
OP was definitely at fault, but as for this gem:-
"Quote:
If the amber light appears you may go on only if you have already crossed the stop line."
That is a load of nonsense. The laws of physics would disagree.
Unless someone can tell me how a 1 ton car travelling at 60 mph (in a 60 mph zone) can stop within 3 feet as the lights go from green to amber when they are 3 feet from the stop line.
I suspect someone is using partial quotes to make their point, but in doing so, shows that they will do anything (including lie by omission) but use the truth.0 -
My initial thought was the same as everybody else (except the OP), the highway code says……
“Amber means stop at the stop line. You may go on only if amber appears after you have crossed the stop lone OR ARE SO CLOSE TO IT THAT TO PULL UP MIGHT CAUSE AN ACCIDENT”
I read this to mean that the woman COULD legally have carried on as the OP was so close but I don’t think this can be extended into making it in any way her fault0 -
Bet this person wishes they never asked lmao
As said your fault

Yes, you can go through on amber but only if you are really sure it is amber! Technically I think lights aren't recommended at higher speeds, might be 100kph and above or 80 I can't remember which (confusingly all UK standards are metric, we have to convert back for road signs
)
In any case if drivers are approaching a set of lights driving technique would say that you shouldn't be doing 60 as it is a limit, drivers should ease off for the lights and be prepared to stop. It isn't recommended but councils now put in 50mph limits around lights as drivers aren't capable it seems of realising this nowadays. Modern cars, whilst heavier have better brakes, and should stop far easier at high speed lights than they did in ye olden days!0 -

The OP posted at 12.41pm, edited their post at 12.42pm and 12.42 was the date of their last activity, so they are either a troll or isn't really that bothered but wanted advice to squirm out of the accident.The man without a signature.0
