Looks like my application was approved. I got my pin in the post this morning.
    Congratulations on getting accepted

I also applied last week and haven't heard anything, so i rang them and got an automated message saying due to advertising they have had an overwhelming response and applications are taking up to 3 weeks, so i guess we'll have to wait a little longer
Most credit decisions are computerised and, no matter how busy staff are, Virgin gives instant decisions and credit limits, provided that your identity, available credit and so on can be verified electronically via the credit reference agencies, which in turn collate data from public records, such as the electoral register.

Might be an idea to look up your credit files, if you haven't checked recently. Mistakes happen. For help, see page 1 of the *How to obtain credit reports* sticky ;)
People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.
  • Ooops, forgot to say well done on your acceptance!

I do have a good credit file and i dont have any other credit cards in my name at the moment, i have had in the past
  • Just to let you know what happens guys.

The majority of applications are system approved/declined. The remaining ones are reviewed by an analyst.
So if you get "You're In" or "Sorry, not this time" message youre application has been system decisioned. If you get a message to say we will be in touch, this means it has gone to analyst to review. They employ analyst in order to improve the approval rate. So ifthis message comes up you haven't been declined.
It is currently taking 3 weeks i can see. Instead of waiting 3 weeks phone straight away. Their number is 0800 062 062. When you make an application, that application sits in one of their queues below all the other applications that have previously been made by other people hence if you don't call it will only be decisioned in that order. However if you call a Credit underwriter will be able to give you a decision straight away !!!

    Hopes this helps:rotfl:
  • number is 0800 085 1709....my mistake :rotfl:
  • Havent posted in a while so adding my experience if it helps anyone;

Applied online on Thursday with balance transfer of £2400, wasn't given an instant descision, as expected i guess! Have waited to hear from them and them, and yesterday morning received a text message(!) telling me that i had been accepted with a modest limit (more than covering the BT). Thought it odd, so called this morning to confirm and this is correct, she told me my rates for purchases after 3 months, BTs after the 16 months and cash advances (16.9, 18.9 and 24.9 respectively) Odd, because i wasnt given an immidiate response, but it certainly didnt take 3 weeks to be checked - so not sure where this backlog talk is coming from.

Did think it was bizzare that i was sent a text, would have prefered a call or something like that!

Anyway, result on the 16 months of interest free!
  • I got an instant rejection from Virgin........still better than the 7 weeks so far from Santander even though it says 5-10 days on the website (even allowing for a 3 week delay in applications, there's still around 4 weeks unaccounted for). Have tried again in case it went missing and it's been 10 days so far since that one.

At least Virgin do let you know either way unlike others who just can't be bothered.
  • Update!

I called the underwriters (as per previous post) and got my decision over the phone, once they had run through a few details with me such as how much my partner earns etc. Got accepted with a pretty generous limit too!

I have been trying to get one of these cards for about 2 years and finally I have got one!
