What the bleeding hell is that?

Looks like something the army would use! :rotfl:

I know what you mean about digital cameras. The ones they use at work are awesome but cost about £15k a piece! _pale_

And how can you say about them being out of date! Look at what you use! :p;) :rotfl:

I might just be waffling here but don't they say the older cameras are better for special effects or something!

Older is definitely better, gives you more control over how the image is recorded etc, if you know what you're doing.

It definitely is a camera, I promise, even though it doesn't look like it! Quick lesson for you (can you tell I'm avoiding work?! :rotfl: )

Right, that camera has a space in the back to insert a darkslide, like this:

    darkslide.jpg

So, before you go out, you insert the film into the slide:

    filminslide.jpg

but obviously you do this in a light tight bag so that no light gets to the film! Then, when you've got your camera on the tripod, you open the back like this to look into it (and put a dark cloth over your head to clock out the light so that you can see better!)

    backopen.jpg

Then, when you've focussed etc you insert the film holder, pull out the darkslide and click the shutter release:

And hey presto! All that for one negative :rotfl:

Anyway, to answer your question, yes, these cameras can do 'special effects'. Its because the bit that holds the lens can move independently of the bit that holds the film, which plays around with the perspective and focus. You know when you look through a camera and tilt it up to look at a high building, the top of the building looks narrower than the bottom, well this camera can get rid of that. And in normal cameras the line of focus is parallel to the film (i.e. when you focus back and forth, the background is in focus, then the middle, the the foreground. By moving the front of this you can have a thin line in focus that goes from the front right of the image, for example, diagonally back through it to the back left. Can't find a picture to explain :(

Anyway, enough random stuff!! BBQ does sound very nice, should suggest to my parents when I go home in a few weeks :D

So what happens if you want to take more than one picture? Do you have to setup more than one darkslide coz obviously you can't do it there or it will be exposed?

The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best

Don't know anything about carp (thought you'd mistyped at first:rotfl: ). Can you eat them? Do you? Or do you put them back - whicjh is very anti-ms and we may have to confiscate your equipment...,,.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Yep, have to load up as many sheets of film as you want to use. And i have a little portable tent thing which is light tight. Not person size tent, I mean for the darkslides and film and with sleeve things to put my hands in.

I think that pic of yours is nice, looks very peaceful! Nice reflections too :D

You can eat them! In Croatia for example, Carp is what they have instead of Turkey at Christmas! I've never tasted it myself and in this country most (if not all) fisheries have a catch and release policy. There is a problem with Eastern Europeans plundering our coarse fish stocks!
