What are the pics of? Was it a particular subject or anything you wanted?
Do you get to print them for free or do you have to pay for them?
He he, you wanna be careful inviting me to 'talk away' :rotfl:
The photos are of a variety of things, a mixture of photographic art, documentary projects, some installation and video work. Mine are about a housing development near my (parents') home. Hopefully they make people think about the architecture of these new developments and the social and political issues around them. That sound academic enough?:rotfl:
Basically, I asked people to stand outside their house and used a really old bellows camera to get a picture of the house, its surroundings and the people. They're going to be about 23 x 19 inches big on the wall, 5 of them. I'll give you the address of the website too when its done if you like (did I mention I was doing a website too?! :rotfl: ).
As for the money, I try not to think about it!! I pay £40 a year darkroom fee which is extremely cheap because I get unlimited use of the facilities and chemicals. But then I have to buy the film and have it processed and then buy the paper to print it on, then pay someone to mount it. Oh, and we've all paid £100 towards the production of this book, arrrggh! To give you an idea, for this project, I'm going to end up spending about £800. Thank heaven for parents who are happy to pay and don't want me to do a 'real' subject, hey?! :rotfl:
Ok, really will shut up now:rolleyes:

I will be sure to give you the website address when it's up and running
Hmmmm... the great digital debate!! For the kind of quality I want its just not possible (money-wise) to use digital. That seems silly cos I just said how much film costs but to get equivalent quality I'd need a digital slr that'd cost about £1000 - £2000 and it'd be out of date in a year or two
The camera I do use is based on the very earliest types, totally manual etc. It takes negatives that are 5 x 4 inches big and the quality is amazing :T Mind you I did look a bit silly 7 feet up a step ladder peering into one of these :rotfl:Don't stress, relax, let life roll off your backs. What the bleeding hell is that?
Looks like something the army would use! :rotfl:
I know what you mean about digital cameras. The ones they use at work are awesome but cost about £15k a piece! _pale_
And how can you say about them being out of date! Look at what you use!:rotfl:
I might just be waffling here but don't they say the older cameras are better for special effects or something!0 -
