I'm feeling more upbeat today! Had a good day and Tuesday is a brand new month! :j

Been thinking about the staying away thing and think I'm just gonna cut down the time I'm on here!

I know I'd miss it otherwise. Just gonna try and not spend all my days off logged on! :p

Feeling up beat on the money front aswell. Have earned over £400 extra this month, got £115 from Quidco going in to my account any day now (hopefully), should be hearing back about my bank charges this month, and have over £100 in my loose change jar!

Gonna do a bit of balance transfering tomorrow and have a de-cluttering session!

Also get to go through this months spending diary tomorrow! Oh how exciting life is! :p

Glad to hear you couldn't stay away ;)

Enjoy your de-cluttering and going through your spending diary :D

All that extra is great, you'll have a great month on the back of that I'm sure :T

    Thanks [STRIKE]guys[/STRIKE] gals! :D

The problem is most of that money minus the bank charges refund will be in paying of my O/D but that will make me feel much better.

Then it's a case of getting the car sorted as cheap as poss. Booked it into a local garage rather than Ford's as it's alot cheaper!

And will use Quidco on my insurance! ;)

Hello SS. I haven't read all your diary but I just caught up on the last few pages as I hadn't seen you about much for a little while....and this explained it!

Just wanted to say Hi really, and that I think all your extra money like earning a bit more this month, having £100 in loose change jar & £115 on Quidco is fantastic and I am so impressed.

I understand this forum becomes like....another "room" in your home? Every day we come in and have a look around....and find something "to do" whilst we're in there!

I find it hard to stay away for long but sometimes I just have to log off quicker than other times. I can feel exhausted by thinking about the same old figures all the time, temporarily lifted at this time of the month when pay day means another chunk paid off a credit card or whatever...hoping desperately that I sell something on Amazon or find 20p in the street, just SOMETHING that means money, no matter how small an amount is coming IN rather than going OUT. Drives me nuts after a while and then I realise I am obsessing....not good.

I think we're all too far down this road to debt freedom to stray far away from the path now but - and maybe this is just me - tunnel vision can be a factor and we miss out on so much other stuff that doesn't even have to cost anything like walks in the countryside or a bike ride (I must do that....) because we're sitting here looking at Excel spreadsheets or mulling over the same old problems. ARGH!

It's good to help others of course though, so, that's a good enough reason to keep coming back...and that keeps us on the straight and narrow huh?

Anyway love, sorry to have rambled on a bit but wanted a 'lil "chat"...even if it was a bit one sided!! :rotfl:

No thank you LA I appreciate it! :kisses3:

And you better read all my diary! I'm gonna test you on it! ;):p

The tunnel vision is exactly how I see it. I desperately want to be debt free but not to the extent where I stop living while I do it! It's finding that happy medium where I don't feel gulty for spending say £50 on myself and saying 'I could have paid of some of the CC with that'!

It's just another test in this thing called life I guess!

Well....sometimes I am guilty of being an "all or nothing" kind of person when it comes to my debt. Spend every penny on clearing credit cards and don't go out or do anything....then build up such a head of steam about being really narked off and BORED that I would go loopy and hit the shops like a whirlwind or book a trip away or something. Crazy.

So anyway "all or nothing" clearly hasn't worked....that's why by the end of last year I was in the worst debt of my life.

I think it you are making good progress and paying off your debt and not adding to it, then you've got to live. It's going to be a very long hard slog otherwise and you could either set yourself back years by doing something incredibly mad....or you'll have social & psychological problems by the end of it, caused by a hermit-like lifestyle! ;)

Don't feel guilty SS if you spend some money on yourself. If it fits into your monthly budget then why the hell shouldn't you?

Well it's a new month and a new start! I'm feeling very positive about this month and want to make it my best one yet after slipping up a bit over the last couple!

    Debt as of today stands at;

    1st August 2006

    Egg (Limit - £500) = £0
    Capital One (Limit - £6,000) = £5,678.36
    Morgan Stanley (Limit - £2,300) 5.9% = £2,084.05
    HSBC (Limit £2,250) 0% - 14th December ‘06 – 14.9% = £1,994.00
    American Express (Limit £2,900) 4.9% = £2,805.01
    Tesco Loan 6.7% = £14,881.00

    Total: = £27,442.42

    Debt at worst was;

    22nd September 2005

    Egg (Limit - £8,600) = £2,933.02
    Capital One (Limit - £10,300) = £8,093.97
    Morgan Stanley (Limit - £2,700) 5.9% = £2,484.27
    Tesco (Limit - £4,100) 7.9% = £2,899.54
    Tesco Loan 6.7% = £17,857.20

    Total: = £34,268.00

I'm still aiming to get my debt down to below £25,000 by 1st October but think I'm gonna fall short!

Not much else to say really other than see you all soon! :D
