stupid me did not take my iphone out in the case i bought to protect it and stupid me did not insure it or list as valuable on house insurance. but what i did manage to do was drop it face down in the street and now the glass front is smashed to bits and although you can still use it it is very hard to read any of the screen. i have it on a 02 on a payg costing £349.50 bought by ex for xmas. son rang apple for me and they will replace for £147 as they dont put new glass apparently. has anyone else done this and what did you do about it??

£147 doesn't sound too bad for a phone swapout. Are you certain it isn't insured on your home policy? Mine covers anything that we own for all risks with no item limit.0

You can get it done for £85. See

THere are probably lots of other companies who will do it for you.0 -
I'd be wary of getting any repairs done to it by anyone other than Apple during it's warranty period..0

thanks but they say you need the lcd repair glass option which is £1550 -
whats the difference between screen smashing or lcd needing replacing as seems big difference in repairing one or both?0

ah so if i am still able to use the phone which i can and all looks the same behind broken glass then all i need replacing is screen and not lcd? sorry being bit dim
Yes, that's correct. If there screen still works there's no need to replace it, just the broken glass that's in front of it.
And can I just say: ouch!
Dropped iPhone, not good.
Next time, pick something cheap to drop.0 -
And get some insurance...No free lunch, and no free laptop0
