How you do it depends on which Operating System you have.

Typically in Windows you would use Windows Explorer, find the files on your computer that you want on the card, highlight them (use CTRL left-click if you want to highlight more than one), then right-click any one of those that are highlighted and choose Copy.

Now go to My Computer, open the SD card which will be shown as a removable storage device in your card reader/camera, right-click and choose Paste. The pictures will be copied across.
The SD card isnt showing in my removable storage device any ideas whats wrong ?? I have removable disk (e) (g) (i) (f) (h) and (j) is it any of them ??
Also any ideas why i cant save picture with windows (i use to just put the card in and click to download them )
now i have to download them through samsung master which i dont like its not as easy .I downloaded samsung master when this problem started .

Try to look for the card when its not actually in the slot, and then look again after you inserted it, the one that wasnt there but now is, is the one..

Close and reopen my computer between tests to refresh what it sees.

Yes, it should be one of them - each slot in the card reader shows up as a separate removable drive (in fact some slots often show up as two) - and if you double-click on each you will find the SD card. It's not possible to say which, as that depends on the layout of your card reader.

You don't actually need any third-party software (such as that from Samsung) to move photos on and off the SD card. You can just use Windows Explorer to copy and paste or drag & drop photos in either direction.

Ive done it THANKYOU for your help !! its disk (f)
  • Glad you found it.
Fwor is right you dont need the samsung software.

I had some Kodak software years ago that assumed it knew what I wanted to do with my photos.

It was much easier to shut the kodak prog down and just transfer files where I wanted as I wanted.

I don't know which version of Windows you have.

In XP you should insert the SD card in the reader, then go to My Computer, find the Removable Disk which corresponds to the card, right-click it and choose Properties. Click the AutoPlay tab, choose Pictures from the drop-down box, click Restore Defaults, then "Select an action to perform" and then choose the action that you want - for example "Open to view files using...". It will then do that action every time you insert a card with picture files on it.

If you've got Vista it will be a similar, but all the names will have been changed to protect the innocent (or something like that...)

I don't have any explanation as to why AutoPlay is not working as it should. IIRC there is a way to stop AutoPlay running by editing one of the entries in the Registry, but you couldn't have done that by accident.

Have you tried right-clicking on the SD Card Removable Disk and choosing Explore? You'll probably have to open a few nested folders, but then you should be able to copy and paste the photos into another folder on the PC as described in my first reply.
  • If you can get the pictures on your screen then all you have to do is drag and drop them into any folder you like, or just drop them on the desktop. This will just make copies of them and will leave the originals on the card. You can then delete them from the card, or leave them there until you are ready to delete them. If you want them in a particular folder, then just open the folder at the same time as your memory card and drag them across to the open folder.
