If I choose to go with Sky, or O2 or whatever, do I still need to pay BT 11.25 for line rental? Or can I cancel that?
Thanks,

You can switch your line rental to Sky, but O2 only offer broadband services, not landline telephony.
You can pay your line rental to whichever company you want to, but the cost is broadly the same as BT.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
talktalk do cheap packages for phone and broadband and you keep your telephone number but there not the best company in the world0

Visit http://www.samknows.net to see whether your local telephone exchange has been unbundled (LLU)...
If so, another licensed operator (OLO) such as Sky, O2 or Orange, should be able to take over the "local loop" - that is the copper pair from your house to the exchange. You would then pay line rental to the OLO instead of to BT. That way, you generally get a better package of services than BT is offering..0
