Get a basic bank account.
All the banks do them, that you can get with a bad credit history (although if you are an undischarged bankrupt it will have to be Barclays/Co-op).

Have you tried applying for Nationwide Flex account online? I am a discharged bankrupt and i got an account with them straight away, however i havent got a debit card, think thats on individual circumstances. The nationwide account also has online banking and telephne banking as standard. I think its a great account. Good luck0
