My Epson C44UX did exactly the same thing last week.
I never thought about trying to fix it myself. I phoned the Epson Agents and they quoted a minimum charge of £25. So I went out and bought another printer.
Then I find this thread......
Burbs, what exactly fixed it, was it the SSC program? If so I'll fix my printer and keep it as a spare.0 -

Yes mate it will fix it without a problem. It will take you 2 seconds to do it, no problem. Download it and if you get stuck with it give me a PM and i will talk you through it mate. good luck0
