Hi,
I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro4600 with an inyernal wireless card. I am trying to connect it to my Linksys WAG354 wireless router. The laptop does appear to connect however only getting a connection status of "Limited or no connectivity" The note from computer is saying the problem occurres because the network did not assign a network address to the computer.
I have called Linksys but the indian call center were not much help! They said i should update the wirless driver for the Toshiba...i have done that but still same problem.
I am running windows XP. I have two other laptops connected to the WAS354 router and they are running fine.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Have you tried re-booting the router?0

Switching it off and on....yesFiliss0

can you connect to the network using the IP address. If so you should be able to see if the router is connecting. From there you can generally re-boot/save to re-start the router. Not the same as just switching it on and off!0

Have you checked the network connection in My Network Places? You can click properties and then click Repair.0

Most routers have a address like this (XX.X.X.X) which will probably be in the manual. Type the number into IE. This should bring up lots of network info and diagnostic stuff....hopefully!0 -
when u switch off the router, you do not actually reset it. I have a linksys WRT54G, at the back (Im assuming yours is similar), there should be a reset button, probably need a screwdriver or something to press it. Check your manuals. That is how you are supposed to reset routers.
I had very slow download speeds once, so slow it was worse than dialup. Not sure why, but a reset (like I have described) did the trick. Probably happened cos I was messing around with the settings.

Also, once you got connectivity, just in case you have not set a password, do so, else you may find other people using your internet!!!:hello:

Don't spend five pounds to dry clean a shirt. Donate it to the charity shop instead. They'll clean it and put it on a hanger. Next morning buy it back for two pounds.0 -
You're not filtering MAC addresses are you? (in the Wireless Security tab on the Linksys I think).
ps - maybe silly question, but is the security set up the same on the Tosh as the other 2 which work?0 -
Hi,
Have tried connecting to netwrok using IP. Not bringing up anything..."page cannot be displayed". Should i connect it via an Ethernet cable to help configure?
I have tried the router rese button but no joy. The other laptops are working fine though! I have checked the status of the internal wireless card on the Tosh and it is working finr too. Why won't it connect though??Filiss0 -
Also...when i hit the repair button, it cannot complete the "renewing your IP address" actionFiliss0
