Too much gas!

Well 47,000+ kWhs in under 8 months is just not creditable.
No, that's what I thought.
It's just what to do about it that's got me.
I really don't have the disposable income to be able to agree to a meter test just the have them to say it's fine.
Looking at all possibilities, I wonder what the consumption would be if the boiler was on 24 hours a day? It's not been I hasten to add. Don't want to try it, mind!
The strange thing is that today when I checked the meter reading it had only gone up by 3 units! Now I'm really confused.
I'm taking daily readings for the next couple of weeks to see if there is a logical pattern.0 -
Daily readings are definitely the way to go. Three metric units a day seems reasonable.0

Wasnt there some big stink about them not changing records after changing the meters from imperial to metric are you sure that they are working in metric now and not still calculating on the old imperial format it could almost quadruple the amount of gas they believe you have used if they are not doing it correctly ?:jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0

True but BG are using cubic metre gas units. He has used 4,243 gas units.
If they were Imperial(cu ft) gas units that would be about 130,000kWh!!!!
Trusting agents or not, it is almost certain in my book that the opening reading is wrong as he only used 3 units(33kWh) in the last day!0 -

If nothing else good comes from this then I will at least have learned to confirm and record every detail myself in future!
Yeah, 3 today and 12 yesterday.
Just typing this makes me livid that I wasn't more observant earlier in the tenancy. It seems that there is either a fault or a big discrepancy in the stated readings.
Unless unbeknownst to me someone indoors is using gas hand over fist and not admitting it. Mind you, they don't know I'm now keeping records so...0 -
I was under the impression the distribution energy company owns the meters and it is there job e.g
Central Scotland = Scottish Power
Highlands = Southern Electric (Scottish Hydro)
Check with Your distributor. His Heart Proved He Was A RedSuarez, SuarezWe Bought The Lad From AmsterdamWe Know He's Not a Chelsea Fan.Fernando Torres = El Judas0 -
Blame OFGEM..theyve wrecked the industry0

Anyway, as a customer, my contract is with BG. If they sub-contract the metering out that's their choice - I'll deal with BG and they can deal with the meter operator. The same way you need to complain to (e.g.) Amazon if you don't receive something, not Royal Mail.0 -

That throws a different light on things.
3 units(33kWh) is reasonable consumption. However 12 gas units(133kWh) in one day for mid May is extremely high.
Have you any idea how consumption could increase 4 fold from one day to another?0
