Money talks. If you can close a deal and make a £1,000 commission or you can close a deal and make £5,000 commission then i know what every single person will take.

Im not on commission, i own my own company so my staff have to sell cars.
I will not accept lying to my customers except for the usual harmless
"we have people interested" It just pushes the person to buy the car quicker (hopefully) and therefore enables them to get on with the pleasure of owning the car that little bit quicker, thats the way i see it anyway!

If any of my staff were telling blatant lies to a customer then they would be straight out of the door.

As for you not telling people that there were other offers etc, did you ever sell a house? LOL

You are welcome to start on car salesmen, they are not bad!!

It was " a tongue in cheek " remark Burbs..no offence, but never ever once have I told a buyer that there was another offer on a property when there wasnt.. In saying that I have visited lots of garages.. that like to "spin a yarn" now that you mention it..

    Keep them coming!

What did he actually do that was so downright out of order? As i said he was a bit devious but if that was really the worst he did then surely they could have found someone better to expose.

He tried to get sellers to lower their asking prices, so what? If you dont want to lower them when Barry asks you, say no! Its not rocket science.

He phoned people with low offers, so what? Dont want to accept a lower offer then again just say no!! People are going to try and take advantage, its a fact of life, dont let them.

He didnt do what he was paid to do.. ie get the BEST price for his vendor.. not the best price for the buyer

Neither am i, but i do like providing for my family and dont really fancy the prospect of my businesses going bust. I dont want to start a massive argument about my business here as the thread is about the BBC program, we can save me for another day.

The day that i can turn down closing good deals and making a good profit cannot come too soon for me but until then im going to make the best deals im able to.

The guy in the program selling fake documents and fake passports was the real scum of the program. The very guy who can get a bloke with no job a mortgage for £180,000, imagine the knock on effect of that deal.

Surely he is the villain of the piece? Not the cheeky guy who tries his luck? As i said, his clients can say no.

No but your happy to tell the odd "white Lie", and sell your cars at inflated prices in order to " close" a deal.. sorry Burbs.. like I said not my style,,

Question, if and when you put your house on the market.. Would you like the Agent to tell you " white lies", or over inflate the price, or better still ,and I quote you.. submit offers from non existent buyers....But then if its a good deal.. why not...

The point of putting in fake offers is to bring the vendor's ideas back in line with reality. The EA wants to get best price for commission but feels that they have to bring down the vendor's expectations so that when they do get that sensible offer, it's more likely to be accepted. In a warped way, it is working in the vendor's interest and it gets everyone the best scenario - agent sells, vendor sells, buyer buys
Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I sell my cars at fair prices, never said i over inflated them! Im in a business where there is so much competition that i cannot afford to price myself out of the market. I sell cars cheaper and quicker, rather than more expensive and slower.

I said that there are occasions when my staff allow people to think that there are others interested in the vehicle. I tell people the facts when it comes to the quality of the vehicle, the history of the vehicle and any finance they may want.

If im selling my house for £180,000 and my agent rang me with an offer of £140,000 then i would tell him no chance. That is your choice, he is trying his luck, people in every business do it.

We are going round in circles here. I never said what he did was right. I said that im sure that this Whistleblower program could have found a "better" example of a bad estate agent. He was not, IN MY OPINION, the worst estate agent you could meet.
