ok, the dog shampoo has been purchased, along with a micro fibre towel. the shampoo is aloe vera and sweet almond oil. fancy.

Now to practice the 'pounce and wrap' towel manoeuvre for that lovely moment when they decide to shake dry :D

I quite like the doggy smell :o

Unless it's I've-rolled-in-something-nasty doggy smell in which case I don't like it

I like the smell of wet dogs

I work long hours and can't have a dog of my own so have to resort to borrowing other peoples

A doggy smell makes a home for me :j

And when they wriggle free, run downstairs and rub themselves dry on the furniture. I miss having a dog!

A little bit of baby shampoo is fine just make sure it is washed out
Life is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?

My partner is a vet and he says please don't use human shampoo!
  • yes, apparently it is the wrong PH and can start off skin problems (even baby shampoo) - doggy skin problems can be a !!!!!! to get rid of too, so probably a false economy to use human shampoo!

Burns (as in the dog food) do some really nice natural soap and shampoo for dogs. Our dog use to scratch all the time after having a bath so we changed to the shampoo sold by Burns and she is much happier and seems to get rid of the smells. Surely if your desperate though a bath with just plain water be better than nothing?

I find human shampoo does not get rid of the doggy smell. I use a deodorising dog shampoo and also have a lovely smelling spray that I use most days to make him smell nice. Lhasas/shihs can stink if you dont wash them weekly!

For ridding of the 'I'verolledinsomething andwantotshareitwithyou' smells, dose the area of the fur concerned in ketchup then wipe off and brush out.
I have no idea how someone discovered this but it really does work, especially on faeces of unknown origin. Somedays, I dont miss having a dog....
