Bloody parking fines!!!!!!!!

Hello everyone!

well last week I went to my mothers house and displayed my blue badge with the correct time.

To my surprise an hour later as I went to put something in my boot, I saw a horrible, ghastly, bright yellow parking fine. Which stated that I had displayed the photograph bit of the blue badge the wrong way round!!!

Gutted I looked at my displayed blue badge and yes, I had displayed the photograph bit instead of turning it the other way round.

well im writing this to have a moan. yes, yes, yes, I know I should have displayed it the right way round, but come on, its not as if I didnt display any thing at all! any bloody excuse for a ticket!!!!

Do you think going through the time consuming appealing process will give me any hope?

please also feel free to have a moan!!!! because I am lol!!!

have a good day everyone!!!:confused::mad:

In my experience your best approach to this is to hold your hands up to the contravention, thank them for pointing out your mistake and ask them to exercise discretion on this occasion. About circa 80% of Councils will and a few are sometimes intransigent about it.

In the circumstances, don't make your informal appeal challenging but neither be too pleading. Just be polite and constructive and see what they do.

you haven't mentioned crucial info - which Council?

Oh gawd!!! my best friends!!! LOL

yeah they do sometimes exercise discretion. Certainly not one of the worst for that particularly - but their PCN and appeals processing department is a real mess!!

    check this example

Basically, even if they say no, they are bound to balls something up along the way!

If you can post the pt here (without your details) someone will be along to see
if there are any errors on it. But i think your best bet really is to appeal to
    the council

    The PCN Contains the Following,
Civil enforcement officer 1609 has reasonable cause to believe that a penalty charge is payable with respect to the above vehicle for the following contravention: Parked in a residents' or shared use parking place or zone displaying an invalid permit. an invalid voucher or an invalid pay & display ticket.

    Contravention code; 19

The rest of the details on the ticket are correct, for example the location post code, time, date and car registration.

    Thankyou!:j

So you are completely familiar with all the regulations that cover what should be on a PCN ? If you are not them you do not know that it is 'correct' and you need to post pictures of it, both sides of it, with your personal details edited out of the picture. The printed verbiage needs to correct and accord with statute, Many councils fail to get it right, in which case you win.
