O2 Line Rental Discount

I've heard a rumour that O2 gives a 30% discount to people working for the following companies;
The AA
Network Rail
DSG Group - Inc Currys Pc World etc
Waitrose
Mac Donalds

Does anyone know of a complete list of all the companies that get this discount? I'm thinking of getting an iphone on the £35 per month contract, this discount would then bring the price down to ~£25. The only problem is none of my mates work for the above companies.

I don't think the discount applies to iPhone contracts.

Apparently it works on all contracts - I know someone who's used a friend from network rail to get a discount on her iphone contract.

I work in a university and we've just been given access to the O2 Open scheme (as a staff benefit) which gives a 30% reduction on O2 tariffs; it includes the iPhone tariffs but no reduction on the cost of the actual phone.

Is it all Unis? Do you know if it stretches to local councils and schools as my wife works for our local council and my dad is a teacher?

I don't know for sure but I suspect not. I think each uni negotiates its own arrangements with the various mobile phone companies and mine just happens to be O2.

I have a friend who just got a big fine from O2 for who took up the offer claiming he worked for one of the comapanys you get a discount for. They carried out a check and found out and now he has a big bill. Is it worth the risk????

Kim I understand where you are coming from, my company doesn't use O2 for it's company mobiles. However if friends and family do work for any of the companies that do use O2 they can recommend, I think it's 5 people a year, they know who will then be able to get the discount - hence a good money saving tip!!
