Looking for a cheap weekend away with children

Hi,
We are looking for a cheap weekend away (prefereably in the north of England).
Before having children we used to use travelodges / B&b's etc, but since having 2 children (one aged 3 and one aged 5 months) we'd love to get away for a weekend but want some accomodation where we are not all stuck in 1 room with the lights out at 7:30pm.
We don't want to book 2 separate rooms in a hotel/lodge/b&b as we want a contained area to ensure the safety of the children.
I know there's places like centreparcs but we can't really afford £400+ for a weekend and they have a minimum of 3 nights stay where we'd be looking for 1 or 2 nights.
Does anybody have any recommendations for websites for looking for accomodation like this (as most just assume you want 1 family room or 2 separate rooms) or can recommend places they've stayed.
Thanks

Maybe consider in future booking a Sun newspaper caravan holiday (we paid £70 total for 4 nights in half term.) Otherwise Haven do very good deals on caravan holidays early in the season, take a look on their website at late availability.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

Thanks for the replys there's been some good suggestions.
Most still require you to take a minimum of 3 nights, where we are only really looking for a friday & saturday night as I can't afford to take an extra day off work at the moment.0 -
You can always come home early, thats what we do on Sun hols if we cant stay the Sunday night. Wouldnt do it if we paid an arm and a leg for a w/e break though.
Dare I say it, how about camping? DH is a caravan snob and after a bad caravan experience (stank of wet dogs) we bought our own camping gear and had some lovely breaks away. You can go whenever/wherever you like for the number of days you like. Not everyones cup of tea but we didnt have a choice budget wise.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0 -
The following link is to a site for late Deals where you can hire private caravans.

For this weekend there is a caravan in the Lakes for £100 or Northumberland for £130.
We own a caravan on the same site in the Lakes and it is a Haven Park so lots for kids and a new indoor pool opened this month. There is also a little kids farm two minutes away which is ideal for kids your age.

We've booked sun holidays and come away early in the past, when my husband hasn't been able to get the monday off work or the children need to be in school.
A 3-night break is usually under £100 including passes, electricity and linen hire. The caravans will have a couple of bedrooms (I assume, we've always had 2 bedrooms but when we went to pontins once it was one bedroom and a sofa bed in the sitting room) so you can shut some doors to keep your noise down so as not to wake the children, but still be able to watch a film, play cards or whatever.
There will be a beach, park, soft play area for if it rains, swimming pool etc.52% tight0 -
