  • Sounds like you should join the "No buying unecessary toiletries" thread too. One of my goals on there is to zip up my nail varnish bag!

i saw that and you are nearly there,

i tend to find i wont spend anything for the longest while then i stock up on years worth of stuff all at once,

i used up one of my shower gels the other week and did a wee dance of joy as my stash went down one lol

i noticed the other day i have £20 of boots points so that will be what i use for my shower gels etc next, so no cash will be spent on these good for a good while now.

and i have shut my access to using the visa on ebay so wont be using it unless i have the spare cash

well that is the plan lol

Just joining the nail varnish discussion. I have a box taking 25% of one fridge shelf full of nail varnish and I rarely paint my nails :rotfl:

I always think I would love my nails looking gorgeous all the time and as my job is pretty grown up, I am sure it would be more appropriate. However that means sitting still for the painting and then not doing anything whilst they dry and I am too impatient. Maybe that can be my pre Xmas goal, like your packed lunch one.

I have to admit I love using shellac on my nail as I only need to them once a fortnight/3 weeks thus cutting down on the sitting still malarkey ... Also as soon as its done it's dry, no need to not move a muscle for another 30 mins or so, the fidgetter that I am means it works much better for me :)

I have wondered about that but was worried I would have to keep paying to have my nails done, which I could not afford. Are the home kits OK then?

Sorry MRN, this is the temporary painted nail thread x

Yeah I find it very easy to use and tbh I do a better job than the "professional" as I use all the stuff I'm meant to, it lasts ages, doesn't chip and is very easy to come off

It's maybe not for everyone but it suits me :)

I'm hijacking the thread too - does Shellac ruin your nails like acrylics do? I have nice nails and once had acrylics done which then trashed my nails for months!

No shellac is much more gentle on the nail bed, you don't need to rough up the nail or anything just have all dead tissue removed :) you can take shellac off and re do it straight away

I would liken it to long lasting nail varnish, it has a better shine than nail varnish but I'm not going to lie it isn't as high a shine as gel nails IMHO ... But it is much much less damaging to the nails than gel nails as well

    Hope that helps :)

I'm trying to upload a picture of my current nail shellac polish, it's 3 weeks old and needing replaced now but I was wanting to show you all that it doesn't chip etc ( chipped nail polish makes me go eeeek)

Will see if I can do it :)
