then theres the packing the car so that if things need putting further in the house they go nearer the boot entrance ...... or is that me just being strange and ocd again??!!

    Em............ yes :rotfl:.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Packing carefully into the car, yes. But not where it goes in the house. More to do with how many roundabouts there are between the supermarket and home... if there's lots I put the bread on the right hand side!

  • Hi MRN, well done on the ball gown purchase :T

I love Ald! And L!dl - can't beat the swoosh as I slide things into the trolley with gay abandon, then hurl them into big bags in the boot of the car. Apart from the eggs :T. Mr T is all for careful packing but I like to add a little frustration to his day. As I scan everything for S&S anyway, it all ends up in the kitchen whilst I zap away.

  • I tested the Tesc0 scan as you shop system at the weekend. Keen readers of these MFW threads will know I get trolly rage especially at the checkouts. Scanning as I shopped completely quashed all that. I also enjoyed packing as I went (I like it neat, heavy stuff at the bottom, divided into fridge/freezer/cupboard bags for ease of unpacking). I didn't have to go slow while some machine wittered on at me like self-service checkouts and my shopping wasn't flung down the conveyer belt either! I didn't even mind much the random item scan check at the end. It wouldn't accept my Stand up to Cancer £1 donation voucher though and the staff didn't know what to do about it because they couldn't override like a money off voucher. I think I'll be using again!

Hi MRN, I have used this 3 times now in our local MrT store and totally love it! I haven't had any probs at all so far. I suppose the idea is to reduce the number of till staff which may not be so good for them, but must admit I'm all for anything that makes the dreaded weekly shop easier :)

I shop in Lidl on foot with my wally-trolle; there's a limit spacewise to what it will hold so I always stick with my list. Heavy/frozen/chilled items on the belt first and fragile stuff last. No need for plastic bags; it all just gets put carefully in my trolley and off I go :)

  • I've developed a fail safe way to take the frustration out of shopping and we always stick to the budget - I send the husband. He never buys nice stuff just the bare minimum. Funny that.

    Can I borrow him?

  • Anytime but on your own head be it. Its fine from a budget point of view but when you just want that extra little something to make a meal a bit different - tough. Or you will end up with a cupboard full of honey and he will try and put in every dinner. I know you didn't want to keep him but Mr NKN is for life not just for shopping :rotfl::rotfl:

I've been looking at the scan and shop things and wondering how they work. How do they know if you've scanned everything in your bag? (like the self scan has the weight belt). Do you then have to go somewhere to pay for the shopping or pay on the scan machine? Sorry for all the questions, I too hate queues!!!!!!!

Oh ok... well I'll let you keep MrNKN then and I'll stick with MrMRN (he's good at ironing- I guess we can't have everything!)

At the end you park your trolly in a till/bay. You scan an 'end shopping' barcode and a member of staff scans a number of random items to check you've been honest. Then you can scan coupons and pay just like at a self-service checkout but without the "unexpected item in the packing area" annoyance!
