You may remember 'The List' I had from the start of the thread. I was basically waiting till I was getting paid regularly (on time and with payslips seems to be a different matter!) to action proper use of our joint account. So here's my mini list to getting this sorted and fully functional:
Decide on amount required to transfer each month - DONE
Move telephone/internet payments to joint account - DONE
Set up direct debit for gas/elec bill from joint account - DONEincluding an extra 6% saving for paying this way and 0.2p per kWh cheaper for gas!
Set up direct debit for council tax from joint account - NOT DONE YET
Move mortgage payments to joint account - DONE...by MrMRN
Also tried my hand at price matching today for a desk for our newly re-decorated study.
WebSite 1: £166.16 inc VAT & delivery No cash back Delivery 5-10 days
WebSite 2: £199.98 inc VAT & delivery BUT 5% discount code and 6% Quidco cash back = £178.58 Delivery 1-2 weeks
Emailed website 2 and they've agreed to price match to £166.16 but I have to make a telephone order so no cashback. Do I dare be cheeky and ask to use the discount code too?MFW: Nov 2008 £156k, Jun 2015 £129k, Jun 2017 £114k.0 -
Well done on all your progress :T:T0

Urgh desk ended up being ordered from website 1 due to website 2 emailing incorrect information/changing their minds/being useless (see here for the details).
Roll on the weekend... 3 mystery shops, a bbq and not much else but feet up relaxing!MFW: Nov 2008 £156k, Jun 2015 £129k, Jun 2017 £114k.0 -

Well done on getting utility bills transfered. Are you going to do the same with your water bill too? Just wondered why it wasn't on the list.0 -
Lots of work going on behind the scenes of this diary recently:
Tick, tick, tick for the transfer of all housey payments to the joint account. Yes milkybars, water was on the mental list, if not on the MSE/MFW list!!!
New desk arrived for the study - which helps hugely with further organisation.
Mystery Shopping has been upped a little but still a hobby more than extra income as it has been for many years now.
Holiday plan is going well...
Wedding planning has been re-launched - we lost steam a little, particularly seeing people who got engaged after us getting married this summer.
All in all, moving along nicely.
Still working on payslips though. Other than going on strike till I get them what can I do? I've verbally asked twice, emailed asking once, and hinted about them in another email. We'll see... pay day coming up soon.MFW: Nov 2008 £156k, Jun 2015 £129k, Jun 2017 £114k.0 -

I've decided to look for another job. It all got a bit too much for me to handle this week. Its not just the lack of slips and late pay but many other little things that go on there, alarm bells are ringing, I'm not happy and I know I haven't got the work/home/life balance right at the moment.
I've pimped up my cv and started looking already.
Has anyone else had mass revelations this week?:o
MFW-wise I had 3 NSDs this week - train ticket was pre-paid and I paid in full by vouchers for teak oil in Homebase!MFW: Nov 2008 £156k, Jun 2015 £129k, Jun 2017 £114k.0 -

Do make sure that your NI and tax has been paid by your employer; a call to HMRC will confirm the situation I think and they'll act if anything is incorrect. Can you have an excuse like "bank needs confirmation of salary" and put in writing to employer as a letter to see if that will generate a reply?
Whilst I agree it may be good to get out, don't jump unless you know the new job will be better. Best wishes for a speedy resolution.0 -
I think I'll get the resignation wrapped up then start pushing on the NI and tax front. Didn't know you could call HMRC... or that they'd divulge that kind of information! I've tried the financial advisor/mortgage need evidence of pay but it doesn't seem to make any difference.
Been sorting out car insurance this week. Phoned current provider to let them know I'm not a student anymore and they upped my renewal quote by £15!!! They couldn't beat the best quote I got either (they have been able to for the last two years) so I'm on the move provider-wise!!! Yet again my cheapest quote has no cashback but is still the cheapest compared to others with cashback.MFW: Nov 2008 £156k, Jun 2015 £129k, Jun 2017 £114k.0 -
