Hiya, I often soak the oats overnight. Not the proper recipe but it works for me. I espresso cup of oats, to two of milk. Then I ping in the microwave for two mins, add a little cold milk, sprinkle of cinnamon. Mmmmmmm2004 £387k 29 years - MF March 2033:eek:

Ahh so we're using the correct ratios (1 whisky glass of oats, 1 of milk and 1 of water). Perhaps cooking a little longer then stiring in some cold milk might help. Thanks Tilly and MCI for the suggestions.MFW: Nov 2008 £156k, Jun 2015 £129k, Jun 2017 £114k.0

Morning everyone..... Why do I feel so good after less that 5 hours sleep? Possibly because I have done loads of work since arriving at 8am, the office is lovely and quiet, there's a good chance I'll finish my to-do list by 4pm and its FRIIIIIII-DAAAAAY!!! Not to mention our first weekend without guests in eons!
We were at OH's work dinner last night to say goodbye and happy retirement to a well liked senior chap (and a good family friend of MrMRNs). It was a fab night but I noticed something interesting: MrMRN and I don't fit in with the youngies anymore (boyfriends and girlfriends, some still students, young and free from responsibilities) but we haven't quite made it into the 'mums and dads' group yet (AKA baby brigade). We're in some half-way situation. Still I played a few games of 21 (managed to avoid downing my wine by not losing) and defended the usual questions of "so when are you and MrMRN going to start a family?" with equal aplomb.
I have treated myself to a hot chocolate and so far not feeling guilty for this splurge because I made a packed lunch in my LDB last night before leaving the house. That's 7 weeks of packed lunches folks.MFW: Nov 2008 £156k, Jun 2015 £129k, Jun 2017 £114k.0 -

That is VERY impressive :T:T:TA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Enjoy your weekend of freedom, We have friends coming Sat and Sun (so will hopefully get some booze left by them to use at Christmas)
Well done on 7 weeks of dinners :j
I always feel a bit out of place when in large groups, as we are to old to be young, to young to be old, don't have any children so don't fit with the young parents or the older parents.Mortgage Aug 12 £165K, Aug 19 £0

Morning All,
I had a very productive Friday in the end and caught up on some much needed quiet time and sleep over the weekend.
It was certainly a low spend weekend compared to previous ones. Just £5.40 on fruit and veg from the local market, a couple of essential items from Boots and no eating out. I also did 3 gym classes over the weekend which has boosted my totals for my gym membership versus PAYG challenge (and made me really hungry!).
I had a ruthless sort through my make-up bag and popped a few items into the car boot box (I’m always surprised when people buy part-used make up but each to their own!). And… I went through all my clothes and repaired or reconstructed a few things to keep them in use for a while longer – yes this was a blatant attempt at creating sewing time under the guise of being MSE! To balance that out I did two mini-DIY/repairs to the house per day and hope to do at least one per day throughout the week.
I’m starting off as I mean to go on with HM soup and a slice of bread to dunk for lunch and hope to report an 8th week completed by Friday! But after 6 gym classes in 7 days, I am considering cancelling this evening’s class for food shopping, bath and early night!!!MFW: Nov 2008 £156k, Jun 2015 £129k, Jun 2017 £114k.0 -
Morning!
A cheeky £38.95 at the supermarket yesterday evening but the fridge was nearly bare. I'm sure it'll last through to pay day and just a small fruit and veg shop at the market on Saturday should secure an under-budget grocery spend.
I had a look at the Tesc0 1.99% mortgage and got a little excited... but then realised that we own approx 33% of our house and need to own 40%! Oh well. Fingers crossed the financial adviser will find us something below the 3.4% we're currently on. We've already agreed to keep our monthly payment the same (which is a nice round number!) so any interest rate lower than our current will mean a larger regular overpayment.
As for my bank balance... I've done the end of the month tidy a week early. £107 into my ISA (managed to resist dunking it on the student loan!). Expected MS payments will cover any end of the month spends... and if those don't show it'll just stop me spending anything!MFW: Nov 2008 £156k, Jun 2015 £129k, Jun 2017 £114k.0
