I think Mr Ammonite would enjoy mystery dining or shopping if it involved food! Well done for your furniture sale0

I'm having an admin/money chasing evening: I visited next door for my £10 that I leant for ciggys (they know my stance on smoking so knew I'd insist on getting it back!).
I can't believe you're a doorstep lender MRN - Panorama will be doing a special on you next week :rotfl:0 -
Door to door lending what do I say. Well done on all the entertainment I think you are a saint to organise your SIL party glad it went well.
Shame to have to cancel the gym but having friends and family stay is also nice although when they leave you sometimes feel ahh back to normal.
Impressed with your cooking my DH is so fussy he hardly want to try anything new and that makes it hard to use left overs. I do batch cook it is such a saviour when you dont feel like cooking or haven't got the time. Cottage pie for him and stew with veg for me from the freezer.Save £12k in 25 No 49

Morning all. It wasn't like it sounds...:o we spent the evening round there a few weeks back and were enjoying a few drinks when they ran out of cigarettes but they didn't have any cash to pop to corner shop so I handed a tenner over.:o It wasn't like I charged interest... although maybe I will in future;)
Hi TG, MrMRN and I tend to like the same things so cooking is easy. In fact I think I'm the fussier out of the two of us because I don't like lamb. Speaking of food... we've switched to porridge so cheap breakfasts through the winter. Although I had mine early this morning (squeezed in a mystery audit at a 24 hr supermarket before normal work) and my tummy is rumbling now!MFW: Nov 2008 £156k, Jun 2015 £129k, Jun 2017 £114k.0 -
Hi MRN, another vote for porridge. I love it in the winter and really find I feel fuller for longer.
I've run out of vodka, can I cadge a loan for a couple of weeks?
Thursday tomorrow and the run down to the weekend.

I am with Tilly Porridge is always good - put dried fruit and seeds in mine as if I don't, I'm still hungry by 11 (fast metabolism!).

I'm not the biggest fan of porridge. Like MCI, I have a pretty fast metabolism and seem to use up my porridge power very quickly :rotfl:
I have tried adding dried fruit and seeds, but haven't yet found a winning combo.
Are there any ways to add more protein to it beyond nuts/seeds?0 -
Has anyone tried soaking the porridge oats over night and just heating in the morning? MrMRN cooks ours in the morning while I dry my hair and this week the oats have been a bit chewy. I mentioned he needs to cook them for longer but he says it's a hassle to stand by the microwave/oven and do this. Perhaps an overnight soaking would allow them to expand then cook better?!?! On second thoughts this might be MrMRN trying to get out of making breakfast.MFW: Nov 2008 £156k, Jun 2015 £129k, Jun 2017 £114k.0

there is a jamie oliver recipe somewhere that soaks the oats overnight...give it a go - might just work - but I know what you mean about Mr MRN getting out of making breakfast!Mortgage Free x 1 03.11.2012 - House rented out Feb 2016

Thanks for the tip MCI - I'll see if it's in our two Jamie recipe books at home. Or just make up my own version for soaking overnight. To be honest I'd quite happily go without breakfast so if he gives up on it, I'll just get to work 10 minutes earlier!!!MFW: Nov 2008 £156k, Jun 2015 £129k, Jun 2017 £114k.0
