Two weeks of packed lunches is a big step forward and really does help the pennies. I had another person at work moaning about money today, WHILST eating a sandwich, pack of crisps, choc bar and drink :eek::eek: purchased from the on site canteen.

Hi Tilly, BaconandEggs, quintwins and Fortune Smiles,
I've got a cold so don't come too close!
I'd recommend textbroker because you can build an author profile, select orders that you want to write about when you have time and payment/deadlines are clear from the start. Here's the link for the MSE thread on it - there's a lot of talk about star ratings on the thread, don't get too hung up on this - but if you decide to join take your time over the sample piece (planned, carefully worded, informative, with good S,P&G will get you a 4 star rating). Baconandeggs - the pay is no worse than mystery shopping, with looser time restrictions.I guess it depends how fast you can type/write and how much research you need to do to write on the ordered topic.
I think I'll dump the pay rise money in my ISA... at least for the first few months.
I've been inundated with supermarket vouchers - £4 off £40 and £7.50 off £50 but in all honesty I think I'll be spending about £20 each week on fresh stuff for the next few weeks by which time the vouchers will have expired. I must stay strong and resist this sales technique... spending more than I need to is what they want me to do!MFW: Nov 2008 £156k, Jun 2015 £129k, Jun 2017 £114k.0

Stay strong MRN - those vouchers are the devils work. We MSE folks know how to beat them at their own game though!! May 2018 - £159k + £3.5K CC - let the countdown begin! May 2018 - £159k + £3.5K CC - let the countdown begin!

I like those vouchers, i always use them for things we acually need and if you spent £50 they'll let you use both, but they do mean you spend more than planned winter is def coming (brrr) and i don't go any futher than the farm shop up teh road in dec and lidl if they have a good deal so i'll be using any vouchers i get to stock up. They're for two different supermarkets. Plus I've already used two similar vouchers on big shops in the last two weeks and the new ones expire in the next two weeks.
I think the best thing would be if I shred them then I'll have more focus on keeping the total small instead of aiming for a high target just to use the vouchers!
 Also I'm sure if I don't use them... they'll send me some more in the future!MFW: Nov 2008 £156k, Jun 2015 £129k, Jun 2017 £114k.0

Well done on payrise...thats great news. :T
Stick with the lunches, it really does make a difference.
If I can resist the turkey mince at a bargain price, you can resist the call of the vouchers.;)

MRN, well done on your payrise and also your money-saving packed lunches. Every little helps!
As far as the vouchers are concerned, I always give away vouchers which I won't be using to family/friends as it may come in handy for them in reducing their weekly spends. In return, I've been given vouchers they have received ranging from 50p off bread to £10 off £30 spend. I guess this is my best way to resist the call of vouchers :-) Mortgage: @ Feb. 2007: £133,200; Apr. 2011: £24,373; May 2011: £175,999; Jun 2013: ~£97K; Mar. 2014 £392,212.73; Dec. 2015: £327,051.77; Mar. 2016: ~£480K; Mar. 2017 £444,445.74 I guess this is my best way to resist the call of vouchers :-) Mortgage: @ Feb. 2007: £133,200; Apr. 2011: £24,373; May 2011: £175,999; Jun 2013: ~£97K; Mar. 2014 £392,212.73; Dec. 2015: £327,051.77; Mar. 2016: ~£480K; Mar. 2017 £444,445.74
