Nothing today….hooray… how wonderful…
the weather had been really, really nice and sunny so it was a day in the back garden – lots of digging, trimming and pruning, edging one of the borders, tidying up, transplanting – phew! Now I ache all over and my hands look like gnarled tree trunks
but this wonderful cup of Tetleys tea helps…oh…and this really huge packet of Choccy Biccys consoles me too… hee hee…

I was up at 5:30am to watch the race, same as Fairylights

We've also been out for a big family meal today which we treated as Mother's Day since we won't see OHs Mum next week (other end of country). We ended up paying £30 - very embarrassing as no-one had told us his Mum and partner were being treated and there was general milling round after they'd gone and a suggested equal split. I just ended up handing over all the cash I had on me (which amount we'd obviously stayed within whilst choosing) and feel both guilty and upset that I now *ought* to find some more.Do I Need One Stops All Unnecessary Reckless Spending£2 CSC - £30 :kisses3:0 -

After a completely successful no-spend week I went shopping today, so I spent a total of £63.73. That's not as bad as it looks, as a large majority of it was for bulk-buy food that will last me for several weeks. The breakdown goes thus:
Farmfoods - £9.07
Aldi - £10.12
Tesco - 28.14
Newspapers - £6.40
Cashback - £10.00
That was the last week of daily newspapers. I've cancelled all but the Saturday and Sunday ones (I always have the Times) because lately I've only really been reading the T2 daily supplement (taking it to work with me for my lunchbreak), so I figured there's enough supplements in the Sat. and Sun. issues to last me all week, and I can get my daily news fix online anyway. That brings the weekly newspaper bill down to £2.90.
Tesco was high because I replaced my old kitchen bin, which was on its last legs, and also invested in a couple of long-life lightbulbs (so a long-term moneysaver, both in electricity costs and length of use).
Buy of the week was from Farmfoods, because I'm really fussy about my teabags and will only drink Typhoo, and that was a box of 300 Typhoo teabags for only £2.50. That'll probably last me until the summer! If anyone has a Farmfoods nearby (look here to see if you have), I suggest checking them out. Not only are they dirt-cheap for frozen food, they also have a lot of brand name stuff cheap, too. For instance, Kellogg's Special K with apricot, at £1 a box. The only difference is that it's packaged for the foreign market.
I also got three current magazines for free from mum-in-law, who took me shopping. My sister-in-law buys She, InStyle and Prima every month, then once she's read them she passes them to mum-in-law, who's promised to pass them onto me when she's done. All of them are the April 06 issues, so that's a freebie worth £8.40!I was cut out to be rich, but got sewn up wrong.0 -
