Try looking in Tools --> Internet options - choose the item Content - you will have an item for autocomplete. You can change the settings for this. This item controls the address bar and the search boxes. If I have helped in any way, and you feel like it - please press the thanks button:beer:0

do you use the google search bar or similar?
I don't use the google toolbar as you describe, I type into the address bar right at the top of the page (in your picture, where you've got http://www.google.....).
When searching, I just go to my homepage, whihc is set to google.co.uk0 -

I've tried:
Tools - Internet Options - Tab= Content - Autocomplete/Settings - I unticked the address bar and then clicked on Delete Autocomplete history. This brought up the same box as when I delete browsing history.
Did all of this and still I get the history showin on my address bar and when I type straight into the address bar...0 -

Actually, I think the autocomplete bit has done the job.
Only after I closed IE down and then re-opened did the deletions take effect.
Everything has now disappeared.
Thanks all for your swift and comprehensive help!!!0 -
