Sorry, I am obviously being over ambitious - we just wanted something a little more exciting than the spain/italy/france thing we have been doing over the past few years.

Mexico. You can do that for around £1200 in the quieter areas other than cancun. Dont worry about this swine flu stuff. Also if you were to catch anything there is an offer at the moment for a free holiday every year for the nect 3 years if you were worried

Lol - I threatened to send DH there this morning, he said he didn't mind if it meant we got free holidays!

I am thinking Sri Lanka for Xmas this year as i need to go ;)
Is this a good time to go?
    What will weather be like?
Xmas is a fantastic time to go to Sri Lanka.I think their rainy season is up til May/June although we have been then and the weather was great .
I think there will be some real good deals there because of the trouble in the north, but there no worries in the resorts.

  • Have you seen the holidays on dreamticket to SRI LANKA - very cheap - just wonder how safe they are though?
Remember if it sounds too good to be true it usually is!

We are a family of four needing a good budget holiday for the summer -

    Thanks for the replies

We have upped our budget to £1600 now, and we are also looking at the option of going to the USA to stay with friends in SC but again need to get the cheapest flights there...
Any further advice would be great.

my friend, also a teacher got a great deal from teletext for Sri Lanka - but they took two weeks over the Easter break, which might be a better bet for you. They paid £1,200 and got all-inclusive for that (2 not 3 of them, but your 4 y/o wouldn't add too much, I wouldn't think) - they didn't use the all-inclusive thing much, as its not their type of thing, but it was far better than any deal they could put together for themselves, or found anywhere else.
