Buying A Second Hand Digital Camara In London
Comments
-
A cheap £50 new camera won't be anything like as good as a 2-3 year old quality camera for the same second hand which once cost £150 to £200.
Megapixels are irrelevant, the sensor is so small than anything over 6 really is a waste of time and money. A quality camera will have a better lens and features than a cheapo brand.0 -
Look for an old Canon Ixus.. i've got a 5mp one and it still takes lovely sharp photos.
The main advantage of 'new' cheap cameras is bigger screens. Older, second-hand cameras may have better lenses.
You could buy one of these: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Canon-Ixus-430-Digital-Optical/dp/B0001JZRH6/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top/275-7157868-5833526
for £35 from CEX - http://www.cex.co.uk/products/Electronics/Photo%20&%20Video/Branded%20Digital%20Cameras/index.php?sku=SAVADN3A90A&name=Canon%20Ixus%20430%204M&mode=buy
Personally, i wouldn't go below 5mp though - that's the point at which I think they produce images that decent printed on photo paper.
This might be ok for a new camera for £50 - http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5591349/Trail/searchtext%3ECANON+POWERSHOT+A470+.htm0 -
I've got a new Canon Ixus 801S and whilst the daytime photos are fine the low light performance and flash are quite poor
I was just taking some photos of series of award presentations indoors about 8-9 ft distance, along side some one using an old 3mp Olympus (used AA batts) - just as well he was taking too since his pictures were bright + clear, whereas mine were dim and shadowed. (both on auto, and yes the flash was firing)
Think I prefer my previous Casios picturewise - except 2 of those failed with "lens error" and wouldn't extend0
