Now.. yes.. because my circumstances have changed.

    Why?

Just if i found my self in this situation with the only asset being a £2000 car id go straight for bankrupcy. you cant reasonably be able to maintain payments for long enough to get yourself out of this situation on that low cash income.

Saving £5 here and £10 thier is all good and well but id hazzrd a guess your payments that you are making wont even cover the interest you are acruing each month.
If it doesnt pay rent sell it.

I asked the Social Services about it last year.. they said no.. because he has nothing really specific. :wall:

I would speak to a specialist welfare rights officer, for another opinion. You can always apply and they can only say yes or no. It is not upto Social services to decide. If he need supervision, you have a chance.

We'll see.. ;) thanks for you positivity.. :rotfl: that made me feel loooooads better.

I'm going to give it a few months and see what I can do.. and how far I can get with my 'home made' DMP ... and re assess it in a few months and see if things have improved with the things I am doing. . if it's not working out.. I'll opt for another plan of action. Maybe it will be Bankruptcy.. who knows .. yet.

    Hi Eupho !

    How are you?

Just wanted to say, keep positive and keep smiling!!!

Don't give up on your eldest son, make him pay for his bus fares, phone + stop giving him pocket money.Well done on making him pay for his mobile phone!!!! :j:beer:

I used to receive EMA when i was in college and used the £30 to pay for all of the above.
Ask at you local education authority about a half price bus pass, basically its a one off £10 payment (might be more now) and you can use any time of the day or night from Monday to Friday. It saved me a fortune on travel.

As for your grocery bill, you might be able drop it down to £200 this thread is brilliant as gives really good tips on how to reduce you food bill as well as recipes.
    Its the Grocery Challenge:-

I don't think you will be able to claim DLA for your son as technically he does not have a learning disability. I used to work in an education centre, very similar to the one your son attends and loads of parents couldn't claim a thing.
Not sure if they do this in your area but they might be a scheme where your son could attend an afternoon session basically doing sports, a college course such as GCSE English etc Basically a two - three hour activity. It is all free as it technically qualifies as part of his education. If you have a support worker ask them about it as it not only help you it could also help him.

I don't think I would advise anyone to go for bankruptcy unless it was absolutely the only available option. Plus in my opinion I think its a cop out.

Loads of really great advice on here, hope it all works out for you.

Will reinforce what has been said about your son - stop the pocket money and let him pay his own bus fares. You must let all the children know that things are really tight so they can all back you, dont worry about scaring them, how bad can things get before they twig?

My friends sisters boy was spoilt rotten as a child and teenager. When he finished his education, he sat on his backside for a couple of years as there was no incentive to find a job. She was very deeply in debt but he didn't know and she continued to pander to him.

    Hi
Well done on talking to your son. I would simply stop paying for his bus tickets and he will have to sort himself out.

Is his mobile on a contract or payg ? If a contract won't it be in your name? and then you are legally liable for the costs anyway if he doesn't pay.

You should be able to downgrade your sky to just basic tv and free evening and weekend calls - so only £17.50.

Then broadband - say Plusnet value at £7 per month - http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/phones/cheap-broadband

Then maybe a override number to telephone your sister abroad - http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/phones/cheap-overseas-calls

Or just have sky tv, go for talk talk's all in one package for broadband and calls.

Hopefully you can also cut back on your food bills. Hopefully all in all you can save nearly £100 a month this way.
