My sister works in an opticions and the opticion buys DKNY and other designer makes for between £2-£4 and they then sell them (frames not lens) for upto £200 per pair. I would sooner stick pins in my eyes then buy designer frames knowing what a rip off they are - especially as I lose about 3 pairs a year.

I doubt very much that the likes of DKNY or CK sell frames to opticians for only £2 to £4. With all the advertising and marketing they do, im sure they sell them to the opticians for more than that

Me too! I work in the Veterinary profession and we have a governing body that state 'recommendations' on mark ups. I would imagine that there is something similar for opticians.... I can't see how something can be marked up from £2 to £200!!!!! Anyhow, I have a good friend that is a partner in a chain of Opticians in the Manchester area, i'll ask him ;)

Gosh, see what this has turned into  I only posted what I thought was a bargain.......

Don't worry, it IS a bargain. I wanted some decent sunglasses for summer and this sounds just the ticket ;) and a nice excuse to visit the bargain-crammed Sports/Soccer World.

    Thanks!

It's a great spot, thanks again! And to think I nearly spent all my Boots points on some *yesterday*...

Well spotted angel! There are some CK ones for £8.99 in Sports World, Weston super Mare, but haven't seen and DK ones, will keep a look out!

Quite fancy some unconventional glasses! Unless of course I end up looking like Elton John - weird glasses period (not balding  ).

Unfortunately I'm not an optician, so can't get frames for £2.00, and even if I could I'd still need to put lenses in! So off to recheck Sports World for DK ones - thanks again! :D

    Ahhh..thanks - I'm there!
The atmosphere is currently filled with hypocrisy so thick that it could be sliced, wrapped, and sold in supermarkets for a decent price and labeled, 'Wholegrain Left-Wing, Middle-Class, Politically-Correct Organic Hypocrisy'.
  • I posted this a month or two back about a place to buy Police, Fila, La Perla etc sunglasses cheaply on the web - £18 each. Only problem is you can't try them on unless you arrange to go to the place, which I did as I live nearby. I bought 3 pairs of Etro designer shades which are lovely.

  • Sports World are doing 70 or 80% or loads of sports gear - I got over £150 of Diadora gear for less than £30 from the shop in Crewe!!
