How to create a PDF brochure to send via email??

Can anyone give me any idea on how to set up a document in PDF to send out a brochure to people interested in renting my apartment?

Really don't know anything, got the blurb and photos all ready.

I use CutePDF. Really simple, completely free and no advertising / watermarks etc that some pdf creating software carries.

Just create your document in whatever program you wish (ie Word) - then 'Print' - you will have an additional 'printer' called cutepdf. Instead of actually printing, it creates a copy of your file as a pdf document.

I think that Openoffice lets you save or export a document to PDF. Never used it myself but it may be worth a try.

OK I've now created quite a good brochure, but when I was trying to email a copy as an attachment to a friend (for her give suggestions) it would not load.

I think the photos may be the problem, Do I need to add the photos as jpegs in the brochure and will the recipients be able to click on them to make them larger?

When you say it would not load, do you mean that you could not send the .pdf to your friend or that she could not open the .pdf file?

What size is the pdf file that you have created?

Your friend will require Adobe Reader installed on her machine available from here

    ;)

I would suggest to design/save your brochure normally in Word/ Open Office Writer.
Then save to PDF (click the pdf icon on Open Office). It will embedd automatically all the graphics (no need to do anything else).

The resulting file.pdf is readable by anyone. To send it via email, you just attach it to your message as any other attachment file! On the other end tey will receive it in its .pdf form and will be able to see it exactly as you do (this is one advantage of odfs with respect to MS Word, i.e. constant output).
