It's my own fault.
The newer version of RIP was reported as not compatible with my version of FF3 and, since it is normally well behaved, I told FF to ignore compatibility checking.
FF now crashes on start up (so I'm running on a basic profile at the moment).
Does anybody know which files and or lines of instruction I need to remove in order to stop FF continually attempting to install this extension please?
I've since removed the extension folder from my profile but FF still crashes

I'd rather avoid that if possible. Reloading extensions and my considerable number of tweaks is a pain.
However - I've just realised that I use FEBE (it's brain damage - wa-a-ay too early in the morning and not nearly enough caffeine in my blood stream!) so I ought to be able to restore my entire profile from yesterday's backup. Just need to reinstall FEBE.
Isn't it amazing the way a "not quite right answer" can prompt a solution.
Thanks
Edit: Yep, reinstalled FEBE then got it to restore yesterday's profile and I'm back in business. Definitely one of those must have extensions - especially if you fiddle with things a lot like wot I do!
