Cheapest landline please
I am looking for a new landline provider, the main requisite not having a 5p. minimum call charge and no prefix. To explain the reasons, firstly I use 18866 and calls are basically free(and works fine unlike one of the previous threads) However if somebody in the household forgets to do th prefix although there is a label on the phone I do not wish to pay the 5p for a ten second call.
At present I`m with Equitalk and they have the min. Previously I was with Toucan and paid 2p min. (Toucan cust. ser. are excellent)
Any ideas?

if only bothered about having to dial a prefix number get an orchid dialer, 10% off.

Think carefully before you decide to ditch your BT exchange line.
Only BT, by the terms of their licence in the UK, are forced to allow you to use their exchange lines to route your calls via other operators should you so choose. This is due to the fact that they are the dominant operator in the UK.
Other companies, ie cable etc, are NOT forced to allow you to use their lines to route your calls through other operators and as far as I am aware they seldom do allow it.0 -
I'm with a CPS provider [allowing me to use 18866etc or the 0844 type calls too] with NO minimum charges & no minimum usages or contracts etc.. not pre-paid either.
if anyone's interested they can send me a messagesomething missing0 -
Something else to get my tired old brain round !. I've been noticing the words Orchid router's for ages now and wondered what on earth they were. I have now, thanks to the above link, had a look and discovered a whole new "thing" for me to master. I have to say that the suggestion it contains technical phrases or rather phrases that are new to me, dosen't fill me with excitement. Martin quite rightly considers those of us who are of the Janet & John calibre, so, it's either find someone who can come and install one for me (if I decide to purchase) or allow this to pas me by.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. The orchid dialler is only worth getting if you have multiple call providers (although they do a dialler at reduced cost for those with a single call provider). Don't let the technicalities worry you. There's plenty of 'Money Savers' that have one and can offer advice. I've been using mine for over 2 months, and am very happy. If you get really stuck, Orchid will set-up your caller info for you for £2.Wearing my other one today.0

But everyone has multiple call providers available: they just need to use them. The orchid dialler is only worth getting if you have multiple call providers
No one provider is cheapest for every call and so, to reduce your 'phone bill just as much as you can, you need to look at the 'phone number you are calling, and the time of day, and then route the call through the appropriate provider.
The more expensive, but still inexpensive, Orchid dialler will do all of that automajically.digital0
