Some do but you would really need to check with the Leisure Centre. All the benefits service can do is confirm that you are entitled to an Income Related benefit.

Our local leisure centre does not give anything for free, but do give a vastly reduced rate if unemployed/disabled/student etc.

The phone tends to be very helpful in situations such as this. ;)

Roughly half price at my local gym.

As dmg says, best way to find out is phone, or alternatively, look at their website.

If your local council has a website then it should give details of any council operated leisure centres in your area & possibly give details of any discounted schemes they operate.

In my borough you have to sign up for a discount card, which costs about £5 for the year if you are disabled or unemployed & then gets you in for half price during non peak hours.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

Do I get my grocery shopping cheaper if I don't have a job?

Its usually for the under 16's and the retired for free, see the govornment like to announce all this 'help' and theres not a whole load of elderly soes swimming or the gym, and under 16's are usually in school or on the Xbox - they will not introduce this for adults.

Unemployed do get big consessions though, just ask at your local council run centre they will give you a form and ask for proof of your benefit entitlement, i go to the gym on reduced rates i am a bodybuilder so its ok.

In my area you can pay £5 fee for a year for a card that entitles you to free swimming mon-fri or gym use mon-fri at a discounted rate.

But will the shop reduce the price of their items and services if I don't have a job.
This seems to be what people expect from other businesses.
